I must admit I’m worried about the bawling part but I think I want to at least say something unscripted to make it more personal but hopefully if it’s not soppy it will be fine.

We are doing traditional vows too. I don’t know how to encompass the entirety of what you want to convey with custom vows. We’re either going to repeat after the pastor or just say “I do.”

Fiance is not a guy that wears his emotions on his sleeve (military for 10 years..) BUT what we did decide on is traditional vows for the ceremony and then for that night (or next morning if we pass out) we’ll write our own separate personal vows and read them to each other in private.

I’m the emotional one – so I like this plan because I’m pretty sure I’m going lose it just trying to get “I do” out of my mouth!

Gabrielle713:  I like that idea! I’ve always kind of felt that vows should be a personal thing. Saying them in front of everybody kind of feels like reading your teenage diary in front of your parents. I think saving them for private is a great idea!

SithLady:  Yeah I agree! I feel like it’s a personal bond between a husband and a wife that doesn’t necessarily need to be broadcasted (or blasted on facebook)! Those are the vows I am most looking forward to!
