- Wedding: April 2010
I was going to put this in “emotional” but I really just wanted to be with my encores right now.
My Fiance and I had the big money talk yesterday. I have been a mess with trying to figure out how to pay for the wedding and my daughter’s school and both of our rents and the car and everything else. I have been a real turd and I totally shut down – I tend to just do that when I get stressed out.
Well, we had this talk and we realized that there is NO way we can get together the money needed, and pay our bills, in the next 62 days. So, our lovely Thanksgiving weekend of wedding fun is being pushed off yet again. This is the THIRD date change. Each time, I am VERY thankful I didn’t print the save the dates.
The decission is that he will move in with me and we will save his rent money for the wedding. He lives in a one bedroom apartment and I live in a three bedroom house – WAY easier for him to move to me then me and him to move somewhere new all together. Once he is moved in (I’m pushing for the first of November, but will let him choose the when) we will take his money and put it in a wedding account, put a deposit down on a place – and then save, save, save and plan, plan plan!
The bonus side is that while I have been trying to keep this well below $5000, he said that he would be happy if it was just under $10,000. Now, I can’t justify spending that kind of money for a day, because it’s MY money – now if it were someone else’s money, or if I just had a huge cash flow, I would TOTALLY spend well over $10,000 on MY day. But I’m just not the type of girl who can do that with money that can be used else where.
So, this will give me more time to find the right people to to the music, the pictures, and all that extra stuff that isn’t included in the place I think we will end up having it at. It also gives me more time to get in better shape and to do the DIY things I have been finding here from all the wonderful Bees!!
I’m being positive about all this because I’m no longer stressed out about the whole money issue or anything like that. It is just a reminder that communication is totally awesome and a MUST!
