So I’ve noticed there have been a lot of ‘band’ posts recently. I actually would like your thoughts/opinions as well!
I’ve had my new ering for about two months now and I’ve been wearing a 2.5mm plain (plated) rose gold band from ebay ($5 lol) while I figure out what will work with my ring. Unfortunately, I haven’t decided on anything and the styles I wanted don’t quite work with my ring. Basically anything super flashy or half/full eternity bands didn’t work. Here’s how it currently looks:
And here’s the ring on its own:
I initially wanted a twisted band. I went to the nearest Zales since they have a few twist styles in stock (even though I’m not planning on ordering one from them). The twisted band with the spaces was a bit too wide for my ring so I nixed it. I tried on a small marquise shaped band (like the eye-and-dot style but without the dots) and something was also ‘off’ about that one. My sister said that she prefers the plain band because it doesn’t take away from the ering. She also said that I don’t need a band lol (we don’t have the concept of erings in my culture so it’s not a significant factor for some women in my family. I love jewelry though lol so I wanted one).
They had this ring in stock which I tried on and it looked really nice! I forgot to take a picture though:
I like the mix of plain and stones and I think it really worked well with my ring. I don’t need the contour since bands can sit flush with my ring but it didn’t stand out. It’s from Zales and unlike most of their other rings, it’s 14k gold (instead of 10) and the stones are I1 (not the best but at least not I3 like their other stuff). I’m still pretty wary of buying from them though…
The other band I was thinking of is this one (pic is from a review of the ring from “DiamondDoveJewelry” on Etsy):
I’d have to order it online and try it out first. I’m thinking of ordering a cheaper silver verison instead and then asking my jeweler to custom make the ring. I think, like the ring above, it has a nice balance of ‘plain’ and ‘flash’ and it wouldn’t overwhelm my petite-ish ring.
So Bees, what do you think?? I like the plain band and I’ll be ordering a real gold version (definitely worth the $5!) but I feel like something is off about the plain band…I feel like it gives the oval a weird shape? I don’t know if that makes sense. Maybe i’m just wanting something a bit more sparkly?
I’d love and truly appreciate your thoughts and suggestions! I’ve been looking at bands for weeks now and my head hurts lol. My husband prefers the half plain-half sparkly twist band (He says it matches us because i’m sparkly and he’s plain LOL!) Please feel free to share any other ideas!
Thanks so much!

What a great thread title. Seriously. LOL
And from your musings above, I’d lean toward the half plain-half sparkly twist band since your husband says “it matches us because i’m sparkly and he’s plain”. What a great reason to get a w-band like that, you know?
And, keep your current RG band as an everyday band for grubby days and still stack it when you want. Even consider looking at one or two of the others if they’re within budget because, hey, why not have more than one?
Happy shopping, Bee!

Of those two twisty designs, I like the Zales one better. The other twist one is just kinda “meh” to me. I’m glad you’re getting a plain band too, I think that’s a beautiful set.
Also I know you didn’t ask for more suggestions, but I think the Tiffany Harmony rose gold band would look gorg with your ring. Yum.

thanks for responding!
I actually do want suggestions and I love the one you posted! I haven’t seen one in person yet but I did “star” a similar one I saw on Etsy. I’ll have to track one down to try on (I think they recently opened a tiffany in my city) or order a cheapo one.
yes I do like the plain one for everyday…its great for work.

Have you tried a plain band with less of a dome? (Flatter I guess…) I think that would look really pretty, I also kinda like it on its own!

Oh, how I envy your long “Disney Princess” fingers. The oval shape is perfect for you!
I really like the plain/sparkly twist band. What your husband said about it would make me smile everytime I looked at it and it’s very pretty all on it’s own.

I have a 2.5mm plain flat band but it doesn’t look quite right either…I took a quick pic now (excuse the scratches on my hand, I’m a klutz):
I guess I need to try one that is 2mm? Can you tell the style of the fake band, is it half dome? I can’t really tell from the pics I’ve found online. Thank you so much for the suggestion!

thank you for the sweet compliment! It’s funny how much I was teased growing up – “witch fingers” or “daddy long fingers”. It took me some time to pick oval, I appreciate the kind words.
I do think what he said is super sweet and that’s probably why I like that band a little more 🙂

hmmm…that does look a little off. Maybe it’s the mm and finish though, I’m not sure! Maybe try a low dome or the thinner flat like you said. Your band in the first pic looked tall to me, that’s why I thought it was domed. I could be totally wrong though!

So I bought a couple of stacking bands and I really like how this one looks:
I think adding a thin pave will look nice? I decided to have a few different bands to switch around because I just can’t decide on one!
