Someone had posted a link on Facebook & that said 80% of women wear the wrong size bra. How accurate that estimate is, I have no clue. Curious, I read the article & their sizing guide & yup I wasn’t wearing the right size bra (I linked the article below).
I just found out today I’ve been wearing the wrong size bra for years!! 🙁 Okay, it doesn’t mean that YOU are as well, but I’m going to include a poll to see if this is true for anyone.
I’ve been sized a few different times & used online calculators & I’ve always been told I’m a 34B. However I’m really a 32D & just bought a new bra today & it fits SO much better!!!
The article says most places size you incorrectly. They give you a larger band & smaller cups. They also have you wear a bra while doing this, which throws off your “real” measurements!
When measuring, you don’t want to be wearing anything on top (no shirt, no bra). You measure around right under your breasts with your arms down. Snug, but not tight & not loose. Its a little tricky to do with your arms down, my Darling Husband helped me. Write that number down (in inches). This is your band size. If you get an odd number than you should try both one size down & one up. I got 31″, so thats a 32 band size for me. I could have tried a 30 band since I was a 31, but idk if they make them that size?
Next, you measure around your breasts. The article said to be leaning over or pose “doggy style”, so your breasts are pointed towards the ground. You measure around, right over your nipples. Don’t pull the measuring tape tight, but you don’t want it loose either. You write down that number (in inches). Than you subtract the first number you had. You should be getting a number between 0 & 13 (this difference in numbers determines your cup size). & I’m using USA cup sizes here. Here’s the chart:
5″: Dirty Delete / E
6″: DDD / EE / F
7″: DDDD / F / G
8″: G / H / J
9″: I / J / K
I typed this chart from the article, but wrote the instructions following their guidelines but in my own words. Here’s the article.
Of course with different brands, this can slightly vary so its not going to be 100% accurate. I didn’t order from the place it said to, I just got the right size from Victorias Secret.
