Well, the nearest Michaels to me is a 45-50min train ride and a 10 minute walk from the train station. The nearest Joan is more than an hour. Most NYC’ers don’t drive so for me to get to Joan, it’s a train, a ferry and a bus. AC Moore is about an hour from me. So really, you have it good πŸ™‚

Uhhh in Canada we don’t have Hobby Lobby OR Joann Fabrics πŸ™  I went down to Buffalo on Wednesday and nearly had a DIY orgasm in Joann!!! I seriously could have stayed there ALL DAY but my friends dragged me out (not before I spent $100 though).

@bakerella: that was me in Hobby Lobby in Richmond! LOL!  We were late for my gown-shopping because of it! LOL!  We’ve only got a Michael’s close and a Joanne’s is around an hour away (dang it).

I’ve been tempted to send a message to Joann and beg them to open a store in our city! LOL!  We’ve got a 3d theater!!! come on!!!! give us a joann’s to compete with Michaels!!!!!

There are none in my state either. I just checked and there’s one opening this month in Manchester, New Husband – that’s pretty exciting, but it’s still quite a drive for me, just for crafting supples.

@bakerella: Yea…Canada is pretty stripped dry of crafty type stores. Its sad considering we’re all so damn creative and we have tons of time to kill during winter.

@kermie: Exxxxxxxxxxxactly. Don’t get me wrong, I love me the 40% off coupons for Michael’s, but I was amazed by the fabric and all the fun stuff at Joann!!! Giant letters, no fray spray, baking stuff, everything. AMAZING. I nearly lost it. I’m seriously going to go down one day without my friends just to bask in the splendor of Joann Fabrics without the guilt of holding someone else up πŸ™‚

@kermie: This is so true! It’s so much easier to get pretty much anything in the states…

I guess I’m lucky because all within a 10-15 minute drive, I have acess to Joanns, Michaels, and Hobby Lobby.  They are all actually on the same main road.  I love them all.  I’m sorry you guys don’t have easy access to these great stores.

@sparrowly: At least you have a Michaels πŸ˜‰

We don’t have any similar stores here and it’s so hard and expensive to get crafting supplies. It totally sucks and i plundered Michaels during my vacation in the US. I could spend all day there, they have everything. It is amazing!

We don’t have a Hobby Lobby, Joanns, AC Moore, or Michaels! πŸ™ It’s really sad, but luckily when I went on vacation in May I got to go to all of them, it was awesome!
