i wouldn’t worry about it.. 40k IS budget compared to the crazy outrageous stuff that’s on tv. i’m sure she didn’t mean that you don’t have good taste. just that your budget is a smidgen of what those “platinum” weddings are.

For those shows, 40k probably IS budget. Try to keep in mind that this girl is your friend and probably didn’t intend to hurt your feelings, so don’t read any more into it.

@Fallicious1012:  I doubt she knows how much your spending and is just saying ‘budget’ because it is still less than the ones on tv. I wouldn’t take it personally.

Mine is $7000 INCLUDING a week’s accomodations for my family, so yeah, it’s budget and it’ll be awesome! Who cares who thinks it’s budget, everyone has their own view, budget just means being smart with your money whether it’s $400, $4k or $40k.

Then again, $40k is double my annual income so…yeah. TV messes with everyone’s view of reality, don’t take it personally.

First off, I agree in that your wedding shouldn’t be considered ‘budget’

Secondly I don’t understand why ‘budget’ is an insult. Frankly I might take it as a compliment if I can make my wedding just as amazing on a ‘budget’ instead of blowing a riduculous amount of money on one day (meaing the 100k+ they spend on those shows). A wedding for 2k can be just as gorgeous and memorable as a wedding for 40k or 100k.

calm….

i’m sure your friend only meant in comparison to the big tv spenders.

though, srsly, the way you got so upset about that… it’s like you think less of weddings that are “budget” weddings.

I wouldn’t waste your energy getting offended over that. “Budget” in the wedding world means “I actually have to keep track of what I’m spending” which 95% of people have to do of course!

Side note – If David Tutera showed up I don’t think any of us would tell him to stay in a budget! I’d love to have him show up and make my budget wedding extravagant 🙂

I don’t think $40,000 is cheap at all. That’s way more than I would spend on a wedding. You’re going to have a beautiful wedding and you should ignore the comment

if your friend isnt married (aka hasnt planeed a wedding) she might just not have any sense of reality when it comes to wedding. I have a friend who has no concept of money and would probably think my 30,000 wedding is budget as well.
