I have had strangers ask when I’m due before (I carry all my weight in my stomach) and it is a horrible feeling. I don’t understand why anyone thinks this is okay. Unless you see a baby’s head crowning, DO NOT ASSUME A WOMAN IS PREGNANT!

“Were you looking for a job? Because that comment is going to be written down with your contact information. Good luck!”

I can totally empathize. A few years ago, when I first started grad school, I was working in a retail store. I had just lost 80 pounds when a woman I was helping in the store asked me “so, when are you due?” Seriously!? I had never been thin a day in my life, I finally achieved this amazing milestone (I was a size 4-6 at the time) and I have someone telling me I looked pregnant. I was completely crushed. You never, never, never ask someone a question like that.

Yeah, you definitely NEVER ask a woman this. I’ve had this happen to me TWICE. Even at my thinnest, which is very similar to your body type it sounds. I was 5’9 and 139 pounds. The little fat I had I did carry in my lower stomach, but I sure as hell didnt look pregnant!!!!! But yeah- it really really hurt my feelings.

My entire reaction involved the phrase, “Oh no she didn’t!” Also “Who on Earth does that?!” I see I’m in the majority here. Some people…

My hair dresser was 7 months pregnant before I said a WORD and that’s only because she finally mentioned something about the baby LOL I bit my tongue for 7 months because while I knew to 99.9% certainty she was expecting, unless the mom says it to your face or you see the baby coming out of her vag at that very moment you never ever ask a woman if she’s pregnant!

I never do and remind Darling Husband not to also (he has before) but that’s odd…

when my mom was pregnant with me but had no idea (like cant-take-a-test-yet-pregnant) some kind local guy in St. Croix came up to her and held her hands and said “you’re gonna have a baby”, smiled at her, and then walked away. she said she was super weirded out and didn’t even know what to do but then a few weeks later, she found out she was pregnant with me.

My first thought is that she had some sort of sense that you are! If you’re 3 days late, you can take a pregnancy test. Take one! I am so curious!

One of my co-workers (we’ll call him Ron) knew that one of my other coworkers (we’ll call her Leslie) (wow, I didn’t mean for the names to both be from Parks and Rec) was pregnant. They’d been good friends since college, and were really more like brother and sister than coworkers. So when Leslie told him that she was pregnant a few days after Ron heard through the work rumor mill, he responded “I thought it was getting pretty obvious.” It was hilarious given their relationship, but if they weren’t that close it would have been sooo mean….

I work with a woman who is that woman you love to hate when she’s pregnant.  All belly, glowing and beautiful.  She was, like, 8.5 months pregnant last July walking through the garage at work.  It’s HOT.

Mech: “Hey, how are you today?”

L: “It’s 90 degrees and I’m fucking pregnant, how do you think I am?!”

Mech: “Oh my God!  Congratulations!”

She was not amused, but we all were.  He said “hey, I NEVER asume a woman is pregnant until she tells me herself.
