@Eva Peron:

“The day you get married  is just a starting point, a bleak and vaporous moment that passes by effortlessly wether (sic) you realize it our not.”

What?? I hope you don’t consider the act of marriage to be this?

Okay, I’m sorry but I just have to point out the irony that the post just above this one is “But I Was Engaged FIRST!” lol

@KatyElle: “When the “OMFG my brother’s friend’s fiance had the AUDACITY to plan their wedding 3 months before mine, life is unfair!” posts stop, the “You get a day” posts will stop.” Totally agree.

@futuremrsny: first… how is calling out the entire hive being the “bigger person”? Second… I STRONGLY disagree that the purpose of this place is to validate the (sometimes crazy) feelings and opinions of every single person in every single post. If we are supposed to be nothing but mindless yes-men regardless of situation… what is the point? Honestly. I know this is a place to vent but I think that (when necessary) the girls here bringing the OP back to the reality that their wedding is not nearly as big a deal to everyone else in the world as it is to them is a very very kind thing to do. Hopefully it will make them stop and think, and get over themselves before they take the dramaboat into their real lives and piss off their real friends and family. Because if a bunch of people who care so much about weddings that they choose to belong to weddingbee think you’re being overly dramatic? You are being overly dramatic. If we don’t understand, no one will.

@Button: Coincidence maybe?  I always get the two confused!

@PutABirdOnIt: I think she was saying, it isn’t ironic because one post spawned the other… 🙂

Can someone please explain what exactly the “you only get one day” thing is all about…

@AngelJCV: A lot of brides when organizing their wedding, feel that other weddings/events shouldn’t interfere with their event. I’ve seen brides get irritated that a baby is due around their wedding day, or someone else is getting married 3 weeks before them… sometimes it’s legit, sometimes it’s ridiculous.

Bees have been known to give the bride a gentle reminder that their wedding allows them ONE day to be the focus of everyone’s lives. Not days, weeks, months, or a year. One day.

Oh and I also believe that this philosphy was brought onto society’s radar through a Sex and the City episode where Charlotte is whining “I don’t want anyone fighting with their boyfriend, this is MY week!” and her friend says “No, it’s your day. You get a day. Not a week.”

ummmmm ouch. I don’t consider myself one of “those negative bees”, as you so lovingly referred to, however I will say this. When I come across a thousand whiny threads where the bride is throwing a temper tantrum because they’re not the queen of the universe for a day, a week, a month, or a year, I say nothing. And I wish other bees would say nothing. And then maybe they would think about how silly and ridiculous they sound whining over trivial things. I agree bashing someone is not the way to treat the thread, as a true rant goes best unanswered. However, bashing the entire hive to get across your point is not nice. Perhaps you had a bad day today so *shrugs*.

@KatyElle: I guess to be fair, if you spread your events out over a weekend, you technically get two days, but that’s it. 😉
