If you don’t know the answer to that you should look it up 😉 It was always thrown around in high school when I was growing up.
I’m really tired of dealing with people’s stupid assumptions about me these days. Maybe it’s because I’m a ‘thinker’ I don’t assume anything unless it’s blatantly obvious what someone is saying.
Little things that drive me crazy lately:
partners assuming we are meeting at a specific place and don’t specify until the very last minute when I may or may not be on the road to somewhere else because they didn’t respond to me sooner. SO annoying.
assuming as a newlywed you are either
-experincing so much ‘bliss’ that you WANT to be disconnected from society as a whole, therefore you are left off invitations and the like
-just as you were when you were single, so much so that people take it to the other extreme and your eternally single friends act like your spouse is not in the picture and they can take up every spare moment of time on or off the phone or in person.
-assuming my last name on important documents . I know, I know. I brought this one on myself by NOT doing the conventional thing and changing names when I married. BUT … everyone knows that by now. Or so they should. It’s been a while and when I receive letters, mail, emails referring to me as mrs so and so I automatically think of my deranged Mother-In-Law and feel that slight prick of ‘ick’ rise up in my throat. I made it clear to those around me that my name would stay the same professionally and for person reasons. I need to get over that but it still annoys the crap out of me when it comes from people who DO know better. I know it’s probably not intentional but I feel slightly robbed of my opinions and that my decision not to change it is disrespected. (however illogical that may be)
Whew. That’s it.
Sorry to anyone who actually read all that. I’m not having the best day and for once I wish someone would think before they opened their mouths in public. I think there would be a lot more silence going around.
Also: this is just a rant…. I hope no one is offended or takes it too seriously.
