- Wedding: June 2009
I guess this post will function as both a question and an informational session. This may be a long post… you have been warned 🙂
Have any of you heard of "Tomato Wedding"?
They can custom make your dream dress, bridesmaid dresses, and price them to rent to you or sell to you (cheaper to rent, of course), or you can choose to rent one of the many dresses they already have in stock and they also rent out tuxes for your hubby-to-be and his groomsmen, plus all the other important people in your wedding party… and they will do your hair and makeup and photography and albums and everything.
basically, their packages for all inclusive rentals, hair/makeup and photography start at around $5000. Has anyone used them?
They have different offices, but I went to the one in Los Angeles off of western and 11th. The designer/seamstress seemed really nice and my mother and I basically drilled her for like 3 hours! reason being – I have been to two trunk shows this weekend and found some gorgeous dresses that are all way above my price range. my dream, dream dress is over $8000! Of course, she cannot make the same exact dress, but what works for me is she can add other things that I wish the original dress had (i.e. pockets, more draping, longer train, thinner straps, etc.). I think the more things you order from them, the better price you can get (obviously) but I am just starting with my dress right now, because I want my BMs to come with me to see if they like the dresses that are in stock for rent or if they would like to have their dresses custom made.
Anyways, at this point my dresss would be less than 1/4 of the price of my original designer dress. But I opted for only renting my custom made dress, which makes it cheaper, but also means that another bride in the future may rent it from them and be wearing it. which is fine by me! i honestly don’t want to worry about preservation and dry cleaning and all that good stuff once the wedding is done.
I am not getting a discount or anything from them for posting this. I just thought it was a great find and wanted to share. But I also wanted to hear from others who may have worked with them to gauge the quality of their final work. thanks!!
ps. this is a Korean establishment. The head designer/seamstress is primarily Korean speaking, but if anyone wants more info – she does have English speaking assistants and i am more than happy to send their info along to any of you 🙂
