@cyndistar3: I DIYed the bridesmaid pinecone bouquets, the groomsmen’s pinecone boutonneirres, ‘mr’ and ‘mrs’ standing table signs, an “&” sash for between our chairs, our unity candle, pew decorations, the toss bouquet, the cardbox, all the centerpieces, the bridesmaid’s jewelry, my headband, the invitations and some other little things π I’ve done most of the work myself, with some help from my grandma. What really helped me was after-Christmas sales. I bought a lot of my decorations super cheap π Our theme is ‘winter romance’. I used a lot of crystals, snowflake and red rose accents. Our colors are red, burgundy, silver and white :3
Do you have any projects on your to-do list? Or a theme picked out? I’d love to help you out with ideas- I’m afraid after we get back from our ‘mini-moon’ I’ll have wedding planning withdraw- D: lol. Have any ideas on dresses?
I used to love going to potlucks as a kid. And I know what you mean; sit downs are too formal. I work at a catering place that primarily does weddings, and only a few times have people chosen plate dinners over the buffet. Buffet lay-outs are the way to go! It gets people moving up off their butts and talking, haha.
Aw, that’s sweet! My grandma made our cookies today (nobody makes em like grandma) so that I wouldn’t have to. The good thing is after the June wedding she’ll be able to focus on your wedding, and you’ll have tons of bonding time. I’m actually sad that I won’t have excuses to run to Hobby Lobby every week with my gram anymore π

@SnowPeony: WOW that is a lot of stuff! I haven’t even though about most of those things LOL. I love the whole winter theme, and your colors sound like they will be beautiful!
I don’t even know where to start with all of this… since I cannot buy stuff till June! Though my grandma said once I get down there we could start buying some stuff a little at a time =) I am too scared of making invitations because our date isn’t set in stone. Our color scheme is going to be red white and silver because I don’t want my Fiance to not match the wedding LOL (he is wearing his dress blues)
I have never been to the hobby lobby… lol. My problem is that I will be back here before my cousins wedding so when that is over my grandma will still be in Cali and I will be here in Idaho =( though she said she would come up about a month before the wedding to help me get things together =)

@cyndistar3: I didn’t realize you were so young, I’m only 22! We should stay in touch better through FB or something

I just want to pipe in and say that I love that everyone is playing nice in here! It was pretty different when I first showed up here when I was “waiting” at 21, two years ago. Though I will say it makes me feel old to see people born in 1993 talking about marriage!

@cyndistar3: Thank you! I always got a little kick of pride after completing a project, and showing it to FH and getting approval π It just makes you feel good.
That’s awesome, so we basically have the same color scheme π And I love weddings where the groom wears his blues, the look amazing. I understand, it’s hard being in that ‘between a rock and a hard place’ spot.
O.O You have to go… it’s amazing! Lol. My favorite store EVER! And that stinks :/ I wish you had more time with your grandma. But at least if you stock up on stuff for projects when you see her in June, you can keep busy til the wedding π

@cyndistar3: I am with you. I am 17 and will be 18 on the wedding day. I am so excited to marry my best friend. Our situation isn’t the same as yours (he was considering going into the military, but decided it wasn’t the right path for him) and we do not have children, but we have been together since 2007. It will be almost four years when we get married.
I’ve felt a little out of place on here, but this board makes me feel not so out of place, expecially since I am seeing so many young brides. Usually though as long as you act maturely, no one seems to care about your age.
We’ve been really blessed by both families being really supportive of it all.
@SnowPeony: I love Hobby Lobby too!

@cyndistar3: i just would like to say im so glad you posted about being a young bride! i was starting to feel like i was the only person getting married before they turned 20 and seeing all the lovely brides on here saying that they are young aswell just made me feel that im not the only one that has to constantly stick up for us. i have had way too many people question the reason im getting married so young. i want to thank you for making a place for younger than 20 to be able to get support!

just curious, you seem to be looking for confirmation on here? why does it matter what age you are? if you truly believe it in your heart and soul you should not second guess it at all.
and im not having a go at you so dont think i am because im in the same boat except i dont have a child. we got engaged at 17 and will be married just after i turn 20.
goodluck with everything!
