I got engaged to my ex husband at 24. The center diamond was 1/2ct.

Engaged at 22 with a stand-in cz ring (a week before giving birth, so my fingers were all swollen!). Currently 24 with a moissanite solitaire somewhere between 3.5 and 4 cts

Engaged at 23. It’s a 1ct equivalent moisanite. Since it was moisanite, and the cost wasn’t that different between carats, I picked based on what I liked best with my band and finger size.

I got engaged at 24, will be 26 when I get married. My original ering and work ring is a .75ct diamond, but my fiancée bought me a ~3ct moissanite because I have big hands and I love big stones. Her ring is 1ct diamond and it fits her style. She’s much more low maintenance than me!

I’m 25. My center diamond is a little over 1ct with around 0.15ct in the setting.

mrsbemztobe :  your ring is so beautiful. The yellow sapphires in the halo give it such a unique and striking look.

I’m 22 (fiancé is 29) and we went with an 8.5mm (2.25 ct) rose cut moissanite. We didn’t go with a diamond so the size was a lot more flexible price wise.

Mine is a 1.5 carat equivalent (moissanite). I wish it were just a 1 carat equivalent, but oh well. I just think 1 carat looks so pretty, but hubby liked the look of the bigger one so I went with it lol.

I’m 25- future hubby is 34. Mine is a 1.2 ct diamond G VS2. I don’t know what the band stones are…maybe .5 ct for the pavé band?

Gorgeous rings there, young bees!

As someone who wasn’t raised in the US, I guess I never had the implicit expectation that diamond size should should be tied in any way to how financially established one was. So for me it was purely a matter of taste.

I wanted a gold band, no diamonds. When my husband (then fiancé) told me his budget and his plans to get me a diamond, I scolded him for being irresponsible. We settled on half his original budget, and I ended up getting a dainty, near perfect .47 carat. I laugh at how dogmatic I was, given that he’s anything but irresponsible, and that his budget was under two weeks worth of his income at the time. But, it was 3 times his monthly mortgage, and it just seemed crazy to me that people could spend that much on a single piece of jewelry. 🙂

I was 31 then, and five years later, I am still perfectly happy with my ring.

Oh, and I will say that the constant visual onslaught of large stones on this site has certainly softened my views towards them to a point where I almost even covet one. Yeesh, how easily we are influenced by visual stimulation. 🙂

Hi! My fiance and I got engaged this year. I am 20 and he is 21. I told him it was more important to me to have a quality diamond over a larger carat size. My diamond is 0.75 cart D, IF oval diamond. I swear it is the prettiest diamond I have ever seen and I love the way it looks on my ring <3

forthesoul :  my ering is a 0.3 ct antique oval diamond solitaire, but that is large for Sweden, especially for my age (it was a bit of a gamble but payed off as an incredible deal)
