When he proposed I was 19 and he was 23. I was still in nursing school and he was already out of school and working. He had just bought a house so he used the first time home buyers’ tax credit to buy my ring. Three years later I still stare at it!!

Your ring is gorgeous, and it’s lovely that it has even more significance for you
Also, what a douchy ex!! And, yay another ECE bee!
And, totally random coincidence- I’m studying ECE and Fiance is studying business!
These rings are all gorgeous! Do any of you bees get really horrible comments about the fact that you’re young/studying and you have an engagement ring? I’ve had tons of people ask if my ring is “fake” and when I ask what they mean their reply is “Oh, you know, a CZ or something from diva” (a cheap chain jewelry store that sells copper rings) I get super f*cked off by this! I have a diamond, but a CZ is still a gem, and peoples negative views on them really irk me!! The worst comment I have EVER recieved was from FI’s douchy uncle once. He saw my ring and said “I hope that I didn’t pay for that!! (Implying that Fiance or I used our student allowance money on the ring, which we didn’t, but it wouldn’t be any of his business if we had) Such an asshole!

Just once, someone I worked with a while ago was like “oh wow, I forgot you were marrying a DOCTOR,” (which my Fiance isn’t, yet) and obviously you’re not going to go into the whole moissy story when you just want to stop talking to someone rude.
People we’re close to know it’s a moissy, and I think they’re honestly surprised we didn’t spend more.

I was 24 when my fiance and I got engaged. He was 30. My fiance saved a little and got some money from something, can’t really remember. He had purchased a ring before so we could be engaged, but we were concerned about something happening to my alexandrite. My fiance wanted to purchase a new ring and we picked out a .81 carat SI2 E color pear stone. I have always wanted a solitaire ring, so its definitely my dream ring! I didn’t really care about the stone shape. lol The ring was close to 3,000 and we got a deal on the diamond since it was an old price. At the time, pears weren’t being picked. I love it and think it is perfect. The size is enough for me. I thought I wanted to upgrade the clarity, but decided I like everything the way it is!
with the guard as my wedding bands!

I saw your post earlier, and I started bothering FI! I was like “Look, Ryan! It’s us!” I’m also a future Mrs B!

Fiance was 19 and I was 21 when he proposed. We were (and I still am) in college and he was only working part time at a job on campus. I think he paid about $600 for it, although I don’t know the specs other than it is .25ct. He picked it out. All I asked for was that it be yellow gold (I LOVE yellow gold and I think it warms up my skin tone).

Here is my ring! We were 23 when we got engaged but we starting dating when I was 16, so he’d saved for a long time 🙂 I don’t know if I’d ever upgrade the center stone but I’ve thought about maybe adding triangular side stones someday!
