Yeah, I’m not loving it. The penny tile is definitely not for me and that new piece of art in the kitchen leaves me scratching my head. To each their own.

Yeah when they were telling their plans for it I was like..waaa? I looove them, they’re adorable but the floor and tiles aren’t my favorite. I like white cabinets, but they just don’t go.

I read their post this morning and was just thinking the same thing. It looks incredibly cheap and the cork floor they just revealed this morning adds to that. I think most of the stuff in their new house looks cheap, actually. I liked their old house well enough but the post-Clara, new-house style is just…barf. The kitchen, especially, looks horrendous to me.

I dont mind the look of the white, i actually like it – BUT… I really do not like the new cork floors or the cheap looking bar stools. They needed to up the anti for those – they just bring down the look. I like the other elements, though – but the floors really do distract from the clean/professional look. I think they might end up regretting that decision.

I’m glad I’m not the only one. I’m okay with the white on white and I even like the penny tile…. but I really dislike the floors and those stupid open shelves.

I think they need different flooring and I think it would have been better with dark counters.

I hate it. Like, really, really hate it. I keep thinking, as it comes together, I’ll like it more. Then I like it less and less. When I saw the cork flooring go up last week, I gave up for good.

I really used to like thier blog, but it’s lost a lot for me after the move. Not to mention, their writing has gotten a bit too… irritating for me.

I’m torn, because there are some idea I really liked. I thought adding the Penninsula was a great way to create counter space & more seating. the kitchen didn’t really have a spot for baking cookies or doing other kitchen-kid-friendly things. So I was definitly impressed with the creativity of that idea.

I also thought the white cabinets were a major improvement from the old ones. Even just the new hardware was a great upgrade.

I even liked the penny tile (but personally, I just like it in general so that could be it).

But overall, I’m not in love with it like I am there other rooms (LOVE the master bedroom). I do like the individual elements, but they didn’t quite come together like I had expected.

Although, I still wish I had all their home/building/interior design/carpentry savvyness!

@ladyfingers:  Yes! The “Sher-dog” stuff has gone too far. Their writing style has gotten too personal/inside joke for my taste. I like to see a blogger’s personality come through, but YHL seems to have gone overboard with the personality. It’s really in your face now.

Yep, not feeling the new kitchen AT ALL. I have seen open shelves done well, but in their room, it just looks cluttered. Disappointing b/c I loved their first kitchen!

@mswizard:  I agree, I think the whole house overall is just bleh. I don’t like the living room either. I feel they have went the direction into trying to be overally modern by trying to add way too many neon accent colors.

Well good thing it’s their kitchen and they are the only people who need to live in it and need to like it. I didn’t like their floors either but I still think they are awesome, because they tackle and take on their projects in an efficient cost effective way. Which I think is the point of the blog, showing people that they can tackle and do it too, and it’s less about the aesthics for me, because I realize taste is a very subjective thing and not everyone is going to like or agree on the same things.

I hate the wall color…..another color would change the whole room and make it pop more.
