- Wedding: October 2016
I’m having trouble making a decision on cutting down the guest list. I have 20 cousins, 19 of which are younger than me (the oldest will be 19 at the time of the wedding, the youngest will be 4), plus 5 other children (ages 4-12) who are not first-cousins. Fiance on the other hand has 10 – ages ranging from 13-23.
We’d like to keep the guest list reasonable, and these 35 cousins are giving me a headache! On one hand, that’s 35 additional people (cost!!), many younger (slightly worried about behavior during reception), and I personally am not super-close with any (mainly due to the age differences). Dear Fiance is somewhat closer to his (smaller) family. On the other hand, my side is a fairly tight group, and I almost feel guity for not inviting ALL of them.
Has anyone ever done an “adults only” reception with such a LARGE family? And if you did, did you invite some young adults (18+) and not ANY younger? Struggling with this decision (as we’d have some cousins 18+ but the majority not.. some cousins from the same family invited, others not..sounds like DRAMA!!!)
Yes, ultimately this is a decision only we can make.. but your input and advice is SO appreciated!
