Mine was last Saturday and it was everything I could have asked for and more. My bridesmaids, aunt and mom pulled off one hell of an event. It was a black and white damask/fuschia themed brunch with bottomless mimosas and a bloody marys. They kept the games at a minimum (thanks girls!) and the gifts were plentiful! It would have been a perfect day if it wasn’t upwards of 100 degrees. People have commented on how I’m “beaming” in the pictures. No… that’s just sweat, lol.

Check it outtt!

I love hearing happy bridal party stories! It makes me so sad when things go horribly or don’t happen at all for brides.

Mine’s still a way out, but my BMs have already hinted at planning one. I’m pretty excited, I’ve always loved bridal shower games, I know I’m a dork 🙂

My family surprised me with a bridal shower in July during our family reunion, literally 2 weeks after I got engaged. Someone threw out the idea of all the women going out to brunch while the men played golf, but I didn’t hear that we were going for sure or that a time had been set. Well, the next morning my mom woke me up at 7:15 and said, “Hurry up, we’re leaving for the restaurant in 25 minutes!” I was so confused. I tried to convince them to just go without me but my mom said everyone was going and that I had to go too. Grumbling, I took a quick shower, threw on a dress, and jumped in the car (with hair still wet). We took several cars to the restaurant and I was in the last one. We were a large group, of ~20, so I didn’t think anything of it when we walked back to the private room. My mom opened the door and everyone yelled surprise. I was completely surprised. It was very sweet. We had a very nice brunch, played a couple games, and opened gifts. The shower had a kitchen theme. My sister wisely consulted my Fiance to find out which kitchen gadgets we needed. They were the perfect gifts because they were small enough to go into my checked luggage. They also gave me a nice recipe book and everyone included a favorite recipe with their card. It was very nice.

One of my friends is throwing me a shower Labor Day weekend. My sister is flying in for that. They are planning a bach party for Sat. night and a shower for Sunday. I’m excited!

@Caitmarae – that sounds like such a nice shower, minus the heat!

@Calico61979 – sounds like a really fun event! Love the theme.

My bridal shower was Sat. Aug 6th. My sister (MOH) surprised my by flying in that Thurday. I haven’t seen her since Christmas, and I was so happy excited that she could be there and take part in that day. My mom made a wedding cake out of bath towels. When I walked into the hall, i thought it was my my real cake, and was taken back by how formal it looked for a bridal shower. I kept thinking how I really wanted to cut into it. I am going to display it on the gift table at our reception.

Mine is in two weeks and I can’t wait! I only have one shower but it should be a good one! I’m being bad and stalking the registry, but it is so exciting when something new has been fulfilled! I’m also having fun guessing who got what.

We just had a Casino themed couples shower yesterday. It was thrown by our Best friend, my 2 sisters, and my Mom. They really did an amazing job and more Men than I thought showed up and they had a good time. We had a lot of people that didn’t show up, but we still had around 50 people there cuz my Fiance has a very large family.

I posted pics here:

What lovely and awesome sounding showers you ladies have had…and are having!  I hope you all enjoyed or plan on enjoying.

My shower was on Saturday and it was lovely.  A tea-themed shower for about 30 guests.  The centerpieces were stacked tea cups and tea pots with wildflowers.  Stunning.  The food was incredibly delish…pot luck.  And there were flavored iced teas.  The desserts were all to die for…especially the vegan margarita cupcakes.  Holy cow! After we ate I opened gifts with the help of my adorable flower girl.  Seriously she was more excited than me!  I guess that’s what happens when you are 2.

@Waves2: that cake, is really towels?

@mshoagie: Yes! Isn’t that crazy? I was kinda disappointed that it wasn’t real. I asked my mom where she got the idea from, and she said she just saw a picture of it and did it herself with no instructions. She said it was a lot of fun to make.
