We make about $115,000 and we spent $750 on my engagement ring, which I love and picked out myself! 🙂

Our combined take home pay (so our health insurance and some other stuff is already taken out) is around $40k/year. My e-ring was $500, I wouldn’t have been comfortable spending much more than that, we’re savers.

Our combined take home is 60k a year that’s with health insurance taken out as well. SO works full time and I work part time less then 25 hours a week. We didn’t go by any rule either. It was what we were comfortable with.

My ering cost $900 and I think its beautiful and I’m happy with it.

My SO is the one with a steady full time job (I’m a student with several part time, minimum wage jobs). Combined, we make under $40k a year. Neither of us wanted a real diamond, because of affordability and because we are against the diamond trade. Both of us are happy with our white gold, simulated diamonds and sapphire rings, which cost around $400 each.

Our combined salary is a little about 210K and my fiance spent around $7000 for my engagement ring. I didn’t have a say in how much he spent – he picked it on his own. I had no idea how much he would spend but I was confortable with anything around $4000-$5000. While we make a decent salary, I still have debt from law school that I need to pay off! I thought that was a reasonable price for my gorgeous canadian diamond.

This is a really interesting topic! We make about 75K combined conservatively, it’s a little hard to say because his income is primarily cash-based, being in the restaurant industry. We spent about $2800 on my engagement ring, it was definitely over our budget but worth it and we split the cost to compromise since I designed it. I don’t know how much we’ll spend on bands, but hopefully about $1200 for both.

google:  Together we make a little over $110k a year and my ring cost a little under $5k, my wedding band is another almost $1k and that still felt like a lot to me even though the “three months salary” thing would’ve meant over a $10k ring. It wouldn’t fit my personality at all to be walking around with a ring that cost that much and I was comfortable spending that much on one item so for us we did half of that.

There is no ring out there reflective of how we feel about each other. Combined, we make quite a bit but I just couldn’t feel good about spending more than 5000 on both my rings. So that’s what we capped it at! And we’re pretty close (4500). The rest of savings is for a new house and retirement and his daughter’s college fund. 🙂

Together, about 42k…and he spent a little over $500. I love my ring and wouldn’t change it for the world!

Dell79:  I think this is an excellent point, nothing is hard and fast we spend 2-3 months salary, but we really love “our ring” and I’ll hopefully wear it the rest of my life…
