I’ve been pondering the same! Our liquor branch here has guidelines that say times your number of guests by 4 drinks. On average a guest has 4 drinks, some have more and some have none. It’s 1 ounce per drink for spirits. I’m planning on buying a few texas mickeys of vodka, rum, rye, and something dark, as well as beer and wine. Where I live the liquor stores take back anything unopened. 🙂

As for candy buffet, decorator does amazing candy buffet for $250.

We provided our own booze and had about 100 guests.  We provided Rum, Rye, Vodka, Gin, Scotch, and Malibu, red and white wine, and 3 kinds of beer (bottles poured into glasses).  In total we spent about 1,100 dollars once we returned the unused bottles to the liquor store.

I think it was excellent value.

We had a calculator from our caterer that allowed us to pick either light, med, or heavy drinkers, and multiply that by guests and # of hours.  We picked heavy knowing we would have left overs.  Way better to over estimate, then under estimate.
