I’ll play! My experience may be a bit different than others who went the true custom route as my dress wasn’t completely designed from scratch.

Who did you get your dress done by? My dress is by Casablanca Bridals. I ordered it from small little shop in Wisconsin near my parents’ house.

Inspiration? I didn’t have a particular dress in mind when I was looking for a gown. I just knew I wanted something that was lace and somewhat romantic. I ended up falling in love with the Casablanca 2010, but really didn’t want a strapless gown.

That’s where my “custom” part comes in. I ended up working with the bridal salon to incorporate parts of other dresses into my gown in order to build the perfect dress. For the most part, I combined the 2010 with the sleeves of the 1857 (along with a few other small details from at least one more dress.)

Picture of you in it! And here is my final dress (pre-alterations).

I’m hoping to be able to do the bustle like this (I have my first alterations appointment in July).

Would you do it again? Definitely! It was a bit nerve-wracking to order it somewhat “sight unseen” and have no idea if my combination would turn out. In the end though, I have the dress of my dreams and couldn’t be happier!

Notes: If you can’t find something you like or something that feels like you, try the custom route. I’m excited that even though there are similar dresses out there, no one has my dress exactly.

I sure did!  I found a local shoppe that custom made my dress.  I picked out the fabric, gave them pictures and instructions and said a little prayer.  :).  It was the best decision for me.  My inspiration was Allure for the dress and Watters Zora for the back.  It was tweaked to perfectly fit me.

Inspiration: Allure

And me:

I would do it again for sure!  Good luck.
