I’m not going to lie. Ever since I saw the episode of Sex and the City where Carrie gets “shoe shamed” I knew I wanted those Manolo’s. If you’re not a SATC freak like me and have no idea what shoes I’m referencing, they’re the Manolo Blahnik Sedaraby d’orsays pictured here:
Pretty much pure perfection.
Imagine my surprise when I realized these shoes were available in blue, the very color I’ve always wanted for my wedding shoes. It seemed as if it was fate. Except the $755 price tag. I tried reasoning that if there’s any occasion to splurge on some super luxe shoes, it’s definitely your wedding day. And I probably would have totally caved and bought them had I not found a SUPER CLOSE look-alike on Nordstrom.com.
Here they both are, the Manolo’s on the left and the Glint pumps from Nordstrom on the right.
CRAZY, right?! I actually ended up preferring the brighter shade of blue of the Glint pumps, so it worked out perfectly. I received them last weekend and they are absolutely stunning, and only $120! Woohoo! 😀
So now it’s your turn? What are your fantasy dream shoes vs the shoes you actually bought? Or are they one in the same?

My dream shoes are my wedding shoes. I found them MASSIVELY on sale back in May!

@Saria213: those 2 shoes do look VERY similar

@CelticBeachBride: Those are gorgeous! I was seriously considering a few pairs by Badgley Mischka as well, so many of them are stunning!
Care to share a picture? 🙂

I first bought a blue pair of Loubs bc I really wanted blue shoes and Loubs.
Then, I decided they were a bit ridiculous and I really just wanted sparkly Jimmy Choos. I only have a pic of the box and not the shoes bc I’m not home. Lol

Dream on the left, reality on the right. In the end it works out perfect because my dress would be too short with the 4inch heels anyway! Not to mention I would probably trip and fall on my face..

My dream shoes were these from Badgley Mischka in light blue. I was planning to find a knock off to stay in budget though.
I was really disappointed when I realized heels probably weren’t the best choice for the gravel patio where our ceremony will be. I really fought it and looked at countless wedges before I finally caved and got these flats. They’re really cute, but they just aren’t what I’d envisioned.

These are my wedding shoes which were also my dream shoes! Jimmy choos!
@Saria213: I love the ones you bought! The embellishment is so much cuter than on the monolos

My DREAM shoes are the Greta from Carvela by Kurt Geiger. But, of course, they are old news and I have yet to find them on re-sale in my size.
In the meantime, I have found these lovely blue velvet pumps from G By Guess. At only $30 I believe they are the perfect subsitute for the Carvela’s.
Ahh I just love the way velvet photographs!

I LOVE that everyone has been picking blue shoes! I’m super excited because I know I’ll wear them after the wedding as well.
@lightmist: I thought the same thing! The Manolo’s are absolutely gorgeous but the Glint’s are a little more me. 🙂

@Saria213: i personally always loved the ones she had for her wedding shoes. the manolo blahnik blue. if my feet could stand wearing heels for flats i would have got those but the backs drive me nuts rubbing my heels.
heres my wedding shoes. i had to do some “shoe surgery” on them. the bling kept snagging on the lace on my dress and the stitching was really itchy so it took it all off. but then it wasnt dyed underneath so i magic markered it but then it was darker then the dye so i had to color the whole shoe and ended up glueing some bling back on cause it was too plain. so the original is on the right and finished one is the left.

These Loubs were my inspiration.
My strassed flats (I wanted something a little more pinky)

Was in LOVE with these Guiseppe Zanotti pumps but at $3000 – forget it:
I needed 5+” pumps to retain the details at the bottom of my dress so my choices were fairly limited. I ended up with these Enzos but really wasnt happy with them:
