I think you should ass moissanite/asha as an option, cause that’s quite popular, and may get amalgamated into the ‘other’ section which you might see in your head as coloured stones?

(If that made any slight bit of sense! )

@pinkgreenandyellow:  I heavily considered moissanite because I LOVE sparkle, but than when I compared it to a diamond in person I wasn’t as much of a fan as I thought I would be,….I thought sparkle-wise the diamond stood out much more than moissanite from afar (b-c it has longer white rays of sparkle, whereas moissanite has little rainbow sparks)…I suggest trying on different rings in person and decide what you like best that way!

Rubies are a lovely option, they’re almost as hard as diamonds and if you go lab-created they’re really affordable. I really love them and the only reason I’m not considering them is cause I have a thing about wearing pink and red together and I don’t want to exclude either from my wardrobe after I get engaged (totally silly I know)

Black diamonds are cool, but they don’t have an internal sparkle which I would miss. They make for very striking jewelry though.

If you prefer non-diamonds, I think that’s what you should get!! There’s no real reason an e-ring has to or should be a diamond, it’s a fairly recent and deliberate social construct. So if you like diamonds the most, get them, but if you don’t, don’t!

If you’re looking for other ideas, the stone’s I’m searching for right now are blue zircon, paraiba tourmaline, apatite, aquamarine and tanzanite. πŸ™‚ I love how they’re all unique shades of colors I already love, but they’re uncommoness is making it hard to find a pre-made ring I really like.

I originally thought that I want a diamond but after much research, I’ve told my SO that I want either an Avarra sapphire or emerald from BTD. They’re lab-created and they’re so beautiful. I think they also make rubies if you wanted to have a look.

And if you want a non-diamond ring then get a non-diamond ring Smile

The ring I want is a diamond solitare with a sapphire accent. I used to want the clasin 6 prong Tiffany ring, until I saw this one. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. And I know that’s the one I’ll end up with. I can’t wait!

Ill be getting a diamond because my boyfriend is quite traditional, but I did want a padparadscha! However, the halo will have some pink sapphires for a touch of colour.

Ooooh, pick me, pick me! I always wanted an untraditional ring– and was never really all that fond of white diamonds to begin with. We ended up picking out a champagne diamond, which I LOVE! (sadly, there are no pics, as I’m still waiting to get the ring :P). We had the jeweler bring in a number of different stones for us to look at in person. It was so much fun to choose the exact color (each champagne diamond has different undertones of pink/orange/yellow/green/gray). And as a nice bonus, the stone was less expensive than a comparable white diamond πŸ™‚

Originally I wanted a white sparkly diamond solitaire but when my friend got a blue sapphire as her main stone I opened my mind up to the world of gemstones! I fell in love with Pink and Blue Sapphires, Blue Topaz (my Birthstone), Amethyst, and Tanzanite… and SO is picking a Tanzanite for me and I can’t wait to see it!

I have diamonds and I love it.. but I also love gemstones. However, my choice, if not diamonds, would be amethyst (purple or pink), Tanzanite or yellow sapphire. I think I’d like any gem, but those would be my faves.

Of the three options, a ruby would definitely be my favourite… definitely NOT a diamond!  Of all the different kinds of stones, I want a moissanite.
