moopy : Beautiful ring!
My fiance is very close to his cousin. He ran some ring choices by her to get her opinion. She apparently liked a different ring than the one he ultimately chose for me. She straight up told me she didn’t like the ring he picked for me mere hours after he proposed.

Haha, this thread reaffirms my view that so many people are idiots completely lacking in social graces. I’ve never had comments on my ring (0.43 solitaire) and I doubt I’d care one way or the other. People did the perfunctory polite oohing and aahing when I just got engaged. That’s about it. My ring is considered ‘big’ in my home country, lol.
OP, I love emeralds. Your ring is beautiful!

My hubs and I celebrated our 20th anniversary a few months ago. So, this isn’t a recent comment. But it has always stuck with me. When my husband and I first got engaged, I showed my ring to my mom. My engagement ring is a 5 stone setting with a main center stone that is around .50 ct. and smaller baguettes and rounds on either side. My mom looked at it and asked if I was disappointed. And I was like, “No. Of course not!” I was over the moon and thought it was the prettiest ring ever. She then said it was too small — not that the stone itself was too small, but that I had big hands, so I should have a larger stone.
After that, I always felt like my ring looked terrible on me. Like I could never to it justice because of my huge hands/fingers.
