Having a DOC was the best money I spent on our wedding bar none. They got to the venue early to supervise vendor setup and deliveries.  They were the go between for the venue catering staff. They stayed long past the end of the wedding to supervise tear down and vendor pick ups.

During the wedding, they kept things running smoothly. I actually was able to just be a guest at my own wedding instead of stressing that my great aunt got the doing meal and no one could find the best man when it was time for toasts. None of those things actually happened but I never  would have  known about it even if they did.

Our DOCs were $1,400 but they were more than just day of ladies. They gave me vendor referrals, checked contracts, coordinated with all vendors leading up to the wedding, etc. basically about a month out, they took over and did all the not fun tasks involved in planning a wedding. They were worth their weighting gold.  I highly recommend getting a DOC if you. Have the budget.

We hired one and she was worth her weight in gold. She set up and took down/packed up all of our decor, handled everything when the venue (without warning) changed the entire set-up schedule, went out and found a crochet hook for getting my dress buttoned because I forgot mine at home (90 minute drive away), kept everything on schedule, handled a mix-up with the order that the courses were supposed to be served in (they served the soup first, but poured the wine and beer pairings for the salad course!), and basically ran the day so that I could relax. We paid $750, but she was clearly worth far more than what she charged.
