I recently decided to switch family doctors from a female doctor to a male doctor (with a fantastic reputation) – mostly due to the complete disarray that my former doctor’s office was run in. Not a very reassuring atmosphere to say the least. Anyways, I’m wondering how many of you see a male physician versus female (for physicals, paps etc.)? And for those of you who have a male doctor is it uncomfortable at all or am I just over thinking this?

I voted Female, no preference but I have a slight preference. I have seen male DR before and its okay but I prefer a female. I hit the jackpot. With Canada’s “free” healthcare system it is very hard to find one and after 4 years I found this new DR to the area. She is young and hip and has her ear to the ground. We are really friendly and both are dating/engaged with military men. When I got my IUD out she was so excited to start prepping me for when I start TTC. I adore her.

Both my general practitioner and my OBGYN are currently males (although I have had both female and male over the years). Both are fine and are not uncomfortable at all.
Gender plays ZERO role in my selection of my doctors.

Me, my husband, and our doctor all go to the same female doctor; I prefer females. I’m so one of those weirdos that always feels super uncomfortable with male doctors, even if they’re just doing something routine, like an annual physical.
