post ’em, just for fun!
whether because it’s out of your budget, looks awful on you, your SIL wore it when she married your brother, whatever…show me your favorite gown that you’ll never wear.
this one is mine. wtoo “astoria”…i LOVE LOVE LOVE this gown, how classic and timeless it is. it has several points against it though. for one thing, it’s about twice my budget, lol. for another, Fiance doesn’t like allover lace (which wouldn’t be a deal-breaker, except for the first reason and the next…), and it’s not the look i’m going for. i want to show off some shoulder ink i’m getting, and the sleeves will cover some of it.
ugh, it’s so beautiful though!

Oooh – I like that! Who is it by?

@Button: it’s from watters’ wtoo line. it’s also about $1600 and i’m trying to keep it under $800, lol.

Anything with an empire waist – they all make me look pregnant but they are so pretty!!!

My “dream” dress that I never got to try on is Amy Michelson “Grace.” I will always love this gown, but it was just not meant to be. Amy Michelson is no longer in business and I could not find anywhere to try it on–and I could not fathom paying over $4K for a used dress I had never seen in person. I did find another dress that I fell absolutely in love with, and I have no REAL regrets, but I will always love this dress:

@cardus: Ok, so… This is a little awkward for me. Um, I have a dress but I’m not engaged. I WAS engaged years ago, but things didn’t work out. I purchased a dress back then, and I’m still in love with it and will wear it when J and I get married (which will be soon… I hope).
This is not me in the photo, btw. It is the only photo I could find online of the dress because it was discontinued 5 years ago. I love it! The photo does not do it justice. It is lace-up in the back, and there are gorgeous swirls on the bodice, and sparkles throughout the tulle. It is a Mori Lee gown.

I didn’t like the restrictive feel around the knees because of the mermaid shape, though I didn’t try this actual dress – Blue by Enzoani ~ Cambridge

I can guarantee that I can neither afford it, nor can I drag it around on my person all day, but hot damn do I love the absurdity of this ridiculous dress. And all the others.

Reem Acra. Out of my budget, but this dress is so beautiful. I love everything about it, especially the choppy tulle skirt.

I was competely in love with this Oscar de la Renta from the Fall 2008 collection. I tried on a different Oscar for fun and I think I’m too long in the torso for his dresses. Still, I adored this one enough to ask about it. The manager at the salon said she didn’t think it was made for wide distribution…she never saw it at a trunk show.
Making a gown just for the runway is cruel! 🙂
Check out the lace…it’s incredible!
