Ok, so not only am I a bride-to-be, but I’m a hopeless romantic to boot (double whammy!)
I want to hear about that one special moment (or day!) when your hunny said those magic words…”I Love You”
Here is mine:
My SO made me promise when we first started dating that if deeper feelings developed, I would wait until he said it first (he is very old fashioned in that sense).
A month after we started dating, we took my younger sister and her friend to the state fair. The whole day, he insisted that we make the giant ferris wheel the last stop of our day. I thought he just wanted some romantic time away from my sister, (who at 13 can be quite th handful), so I agreed and didn’t think anything of it. Partway through the day, we were perusing the vendor stalls and came across a jeweller who specialized in jewellery made from Hellenite, a synthetic stone that can only be found around Mount St. Helens (two different minerals that can only be found together in that area chemically fused during the eruption in the 80’s toform the stone). I fell in love with a ring there, and I was surprised when he bought it for me. The catch, I couldn’t wear it until we left the park…”so it wouldn’t get damaged when we went on rides” (so he said lol).
As the day went on, I began to feel more and more tired and a little aggitated with my sister, and was just ready to go home. But he convinced me to go on the ferris wheel just as the sun was beginning to set. My sister and her friend took one car, and SO and I took another. The wheel got going, and I leaned into my SO, ready to close my eyes and just fall asleep on his shoulder. But he turned to me, turned bright red (which I’d never seen him do…he’s a sailor, he doesn’t get embarrassed or nervous easily!), and then fumbled to take the ring he’d bought me out of his pocket. And the next thing he told me I’ll never forget…
“E, I’ve never met another woman like you, and I’ve never been so happy in my entire life. I know this isn’t the biggest promise we will ever make, but I want to promise you that I will always be honest with you, support you, and….love you. I love you EH, and I know you are the woman I want to someday marry.” (And of course I said I loved him too!…though I was at loss for words at that moment)
Eeee I get chills just thinking about that day! He never planned on the ring being part of the confession, but decided it was appropriate since he wanted to replace it with an engagement ring someday (which he did a year later), and I couldn’t have asked for a better promise ring, or SO for that matter!
OK that’s mine! Now let’s hear yours! 🙂
