My mother lost her engagement ring after wearing it for almost forty years. It had become a little loose when she was undergoing treatment for cancer, and it fell off her finger while she was raking leaves. She was so sad to lose it. This is a stock photo, but it is a close match.

futurejewell2017:  It is an Art Deco setting. She is healthy and well now, and my dad bought her a 3-stone oval anniversary band. I’m so used to seeing the antique setting on her hand that I think the more modern ring looks odd.

My mom has a nicely size marquise solitaire on a thin yellow gold band. I’m not sure of the carat weight. She told me a long time ago though. I’m really bad at guessing with the marquie shape but her’s is at least .75 and could be 1.5 for all I know. Her wedding band was a 4mm band with crosses and three small diamonds. She no longer has it but still has her engagement ring.

I don’t have any pictures but these are pretty much exactly the same!

These are my mom’s rings. On her finger for almost 60 years (I think my parents will celebrate 57 this year …) and still going strong.

This was my grandmother’s engagement ring. (And possibly wedding ring, too. I don’t know for sure, as I never knew her. She died when my mom was very young.)

futurejewell2017:  my mum gave me her set as it no longer fits. I usually just wear the wedding band as a RHR. The engagement ring is too big but the wedding ring fits perfectly which is strange. My mum told me to get the ering sized but that would mean losing some of the engraving which I don’t want. The rings posted are beautiful

longtimemrs:  Both your mother’s and your grandmother’s rings are so beautiful! Kudos to your parents for their 60 year old marriage, what a journey!

futurejewell2017:  the funny thing is that she didn’t know it was 22ct (she thought it was 18ct) until recently, when my dog pulled on his leash, damaging her finger and meaning the ring had to be cut off, so we took it to a jewellers for repair and they told us. I had wondered, as the gold is really ‘gold’, and it’s also quite soft.

My mothers engagement/wedding ring was lost after my parents divorce, but here is a pic with the general idea. I believe hers had 5 diamonds, with the middle one being slightly bigger than the others. My father was given one or two of the diamonds by my grandmother, he found another one (yes, found), and purchased the remaining ones he needed. He designed the ring himself. My parents were just starting out (my dad a high school teacher before making a career change and my mom was just about to go back to school to get a second degree).

My maternal grandmothers upgraded set is actually my official set now. We purchased a wedding ring to go with it, and I will probably use the matching wedding band as a spacer. I had grown up coveting her set for as long as I can remember. She passed away right before New Years and my mother offered it to my now Fiance about two weeks later. I have never seen her original set, although I would love to if it still exists.

My mom switches hers up a lot. She doesn’t wear her orginal set much any more. Couple years ago my brothers and I pitched in to get her a new mothers ring which is what she wears on her left hand now. A sapphire (my birthstone) with 2 aquamarines on either side for my brothers. Or she’ll wear her diamond & amethyst band for her “less blingy” days. She will usually have a ring on every finger, she is obsessed. Lol
