She’s good enough to babysit but after that needs to leave just cause you’re feeling under the weather? Ummmm no. She drove an hour over, wants to spend more time with her son and granddaughter and you need to be more appreciative. Have a nap like a PP mentioned.

If you’re sick, why wouldn’t you want to just stay in bed anyway? Does it matter that she’s in the house? Do you think that maybe she assumes she’s helping by watching her granddaughter so that you, who are sick, won’t have to?

To answer your question, yes that’s an unreasonable expectation. In my experience it is never a good idea to expect anyone will just understand what you want – you have to say it out loud. This is doubly true with family.

I don’t think you wanting her to leave was completely obvious, maybe if this situation comes up again, ask your Darling Husband to let her know. “I’m not feeling well, do you mind if you ask your mom to head out so I can rest?” Or even just let her know yourself. Get well soon bee
