I love the dress, but I don’t think it looks to young for my mom and looks way to bridal. I don’t normally care about colors or anything like that, but I would probably cry if my mom wore this to my wedding because I would feel that she was trying to one up me probably.

It looks like a wedding gown to me as well.

It’s a gorgeous dress. I think it totally depends on the bride, if she thinks it’s acceptable.

Personally (if my mother ever wore dresses like that), I would be totally fine with her rocking that dress, as long as my wedding was formal (I honestly just wouldn’t want her feeling out of place in like a backyard BBQ wedding), and the gown wasn’t too similar to mine (I’m fine with white or near white, I’m fine with it even being very fancy and sparkly, but I just really would rather I was the only one wearing a dress like mine on my wedding day).

sweetness09:  I was coming to ask for a pic of your dress!

I think your mom’s dress is going to compliment yours well! It won’t upstage yours… and your mom I’m sure will feel like a million bucks!

I’m actually pretty okay with it. Pair it up with a gold bolero or some big gold statement jewellery and it looks beautiful.

I think there are very few opportunities besides a a wedding to wear dresses like this. I definitely don’t think people should wear white or ivory, but gold/champagne? Especially if the bride is not wearing gold and champagne? Yeah totally. I would be fine with it.

I think it will look fabulous next to your dress and not upstage you at all.

But how old is Mom? That neckline screams “saggy, wrinkly, sun-damaged cleavage” to me, but Darling Husband and I have older moms who were in their 30s when we were born. Thankfully, they have classic and/or conservative, age-appropriate fashion sense, so they wouldn’t have even considered something like this.

I think it looks somewhat bridal, but I have been in a wedding where the bridal party wore dresses that to me looked like they COULD be bridal (bride picked them out) and it worked just fine because the brides dress was a gigantic ballgown! So I think as long as the bride is happy with it and it’s different enough from her dress then it shouldn’t be a problem.

sweetness09:  Based on this pic to compare it to, I don’t see how anyone could think that.  Yes it’s dressy and somewhat bridal looking, but not at all by comparison.  Between the tulle, the train and the veil, there is no way hers looks like she’s trying to show you up.  How does it compare to what the bridesmaids are wearing? Equally dressy?  More so?

It’s gorgeous but very bridal.
