Hello ladies! I’m new here but have been reading tons and tons of messages from you all for several weeks, which I’ve found SO helpful as I go through my own dress search. I’ve tried on a ton of dresses over the past couple of months and think I’m getting close to a decision… I’ve finally settled on fabric – lace – and fit – modified A or mermaid-ish. I think I have it down to 3 dresses, but they’re all so different… I need your help!
Just some background – I am getting married in Georgia, in inside venues. I think lace is a very nice look for a southern, romantic sort of setting, but I don’t want to appear too casual or vintage-y, as I want the reception to feel quite formal, (not black tie, but dressy).
Unfortunately I don’t have any pictures of me in these dresses because the stores wouldn’t allow… such a bummer – sorry!
#1 Rivini Dari: (It would be sweetheart neckline – the store has a version with it that way already – so no extra cost)
Pros: I think it’s very pretty and sophisticated; fits very well; I love the beaded belt; feels like a “high end” designer dress (I’m really trying to get this out of my head, but I’m having a hard time ignoring it). I like the lace tiers, as that makes it a bit different than most others, and I like the fullness of the skirt.
Cons: Mostly price – it will be around $8,000 once alterations, veil, etc. are added in. I also wonder/worry if it’s a little boring…?
#2 Enzoani Blue Cambridge: (I would make it sweetheart neckline)
Pros: Mostly price – SO much less expensive than most things I’ve been looking at. It would end up costing around $2000, including alterations and veil. Cost isn’t a major factor in my decision (I could afford the more expensive Rivini), BUT, I am a very cost conscious person in general, and I feel like I could feel very good/proud about buying a less expensive dress. I just worry that I’m too swayed by the lower price tag and may end up regretting the decision… Other pros are the sparkle, the fit is great, and I love the long train.
Cons: I don’t know if I love love the lace pattern, and I’m not sure that I love how the lace gets more spread out toward the bottom of the dress. Does the beading make it look like a less sophisticated dress?? (I can’t decide…!)
(I really hope TingTing doesn’t mind me stealing her pictures – I thought the dress was so beautiful on her and she showed it off way better than the Enzoani website!)
#3 Alvina Valenta 9102: (Would switch out the belt in the pics and wear with a beaded/sparkly belt instead; would be an ivory underlayer with ivory lace over top)
Pros: Very good fit, felt sexy without being too much; I love the all-over lace (the pattern of the lace and the lace itself); price is between the Rivini and the Enzoani – would likely be about $4600 with veil and alterations, which is still quite a bit less than what I have mostly been looking at.
Cons: It doesn’t have all that much skirt to it (doesn’t ‘puff’ out much), which I’ve sorta wanted from the beginning – I’ve been wanting something that feels like a true “wedding dress” rather than a dress shape I could potentially wear in the future. i.e. Is it not ‘special’ enough? (YES, I know I’m being crazy… ahhh!)
Any thoughts and opinions would be MUCH appreciated. Thank you ladies!!
