My first dress….
the one I adore/wore…
This was my first dress (that gave me dress regret). I always wanted sweetheart neckline and softer tulle then on this dress. I loved the lace without sparkle and how similar it looked to Pronovias Alcanar (which I couldn´t afford). First I loved the dropped waist and then I never really liked how my hips look with this dropped waist. Really strange, how feelings can change.
This was the second dress (I wore for my wedding). I totally loved the sweetheart neckline with lave details, the natural waist and the fine shades of tulle. This was my dream dress, I found just four weeks before my wedding. Seamstress was so kind to arrange my alterations in that short time.
I’m bumping as I think this is a interesting post.
My last dress was a sample my mom bought me right after I had a baby and right after I got engaged. I felt VERY pressured to buy it. I didnt even want to go shopping! The dress I have is also a sample I recently purchased. It is NOT my true love dress but it is a dress that is ivory and I definatly really like it (Its the first one pictured and the one with me in it). The the second dress is the dress I pine after but feel silly buying a third dress (and one I cant try on). I will buy it if I ever find it at around $500 but otherwise I will wear the second one.
First one is Sophia Tolli Fabian, My dress is Stella York 5722 (simple white ballgown with pockets) and the last dress is Wtoo Olivia in Oatmeal.
Ok….my previous post is confusing because the dresses came out, out of order!
THe first dress you see is my dress-Ivory simple A-line with pockets (or maybe its a ballgown). The blush dress that is under the picture of me is my LOVE dress….I cant try it on so I havent bought it. Its to expensive to blindly buy it incase it doesnt look good.
The last dress pictured with the long sleeves is my dress regret dress. Its beautiful but I hated it. I hated it as soon as well got home. It sooo wasnt me and much to complicated. I felt very pressured from my mom. You can tell from my first dress to my dress regret dress that it just was not my taste.
Here is my original dress:
And my second dress when I decided, 50 days before the wedding, that I needed ivory instead.
Question to all “dress regret” brides….were you able to sell your first dress?
I’m going Saturday to try (less than two months before my wedding) THE dress which has been on my mind since I bought my current dress. My only worry ( and my FI’s worry) is that I won’t be able to sell my current dress. Thoughts?
Also – thank you for this thread!!! It makes me feel less alone and silly for having dress regret. Now try to tell that to my Fiance…:/
The first was my original dress that I regretted and was able to return because it hadn’t been ordered yet (thank goodness!) And the second is the dress I fell in love with and have now (:
Well the majority of bees hate my second dress and love my first one, but whatever.
My first dress, Pnina Tornai
My second dress, Lazaro
They’re completely different! My pnina reminds me of pretty much every other ivory sweetheart mermaid you see. It had an amazing corset that gave me an awesome shape, but I didn’t love the dress. I love my new one and Im so happy I made this choice for myself and no one else!
On my first shopping trip I tried on the love Marley penelope but it was out of moms budget so ended up with disaster. First dress was when I picked it. Second was when I picked it up at the store… Wasn’t it horrific!’
Thankfully ly I was able to exchange for something more me! Still think about the Penelope all of the time and have a little dress regret but I have 4 weeks until the wedding so it is what it is! This is the before alterations pic and not the sash I ordered.
Dress regret is my middle name. When we first got engaged, I went to a department store and picked out a cute short lace ivory dress. Then I tried it on several months later (we had a two year engagement) and realize it was waaaaay too short. Maybe I gained weight or something but it did not look appropriate at all. So then I went on Etsy and purchased a fluffy ivory shirt to put ont op of the original dress. HATED it. It was too fluffy and traditional looking, wasn’t me at all.So then I went online and decided I would go the casual/nontraditional route and purchased a white floral pencil dress. It fit me but it was made for my body type it all it made my boobs look small and my hips look big. So I sent it back. Finally I went to a consignment store and found the perfect dress. No regrets with this one, right? I can’t send it back and it was $175 investment (more than any of the others) and I do love it. It’s unique and timeless. The picture of my final decision doesn’t do it justice but at least you can see how different they all are. I don’t have the picture of the short one but I’ll show you the others.
