@sunburn:  can ever stop looking at your ring as that was my original inspiration ring that I coveted for years. But then ended up with a pear!

@ricli: I had a pear ring before, I love the shape, it really elongates your finger. Yours is beautiful!

@MrsGarcia2014:  fun thread!! I loved Alex Garza’s ring, so I had mine custom made. I added the “shoulders” or cathedral setting for extra sturdiness. I also opted not to get tiny diamonds all over the head, but only the tiny diamonds along the donut of the ring…I chose not to get bands with mine, as I like it just on its own. Mine is a 10×8. Not sure what size hers is. I love love love how mine turned out.

My Pinterest featured lots of green stones but nothing really cohesive because I’m very indecisive. My fiance designed the perfect ring.

@greeneyedbee:  Oh wow! Your ring is so beautiful!! 😍 Alex Garza’s ring was also my ring inspiration as well until I tried morganite and rose gold on in a big box store and found that it pretty much vanished against my skin tone. While at the store, I found a beautiful pear shaped tanzanite ring and knew then that I wanted a blue center stone. So, I ended up with something similar to Alex’s ring but with white gold, sapphire ans a chunky setting instead of rose gold, morganite, or separate dainty bands lol ;). I should also add that I’m a Gemini so I feel like being indecisive and choosing a ring nothing like my inspiration pic was bound to happen lol

So … I’m old (lol). Which means there was no internet when the hubs and I were talking about getting engaged and when we started talking about rings. There wasn’t any Pinterest or inspo boards, etc. Where we lived, most people went to the local jewelry store (be it at the mall or wherever) and purchased a pre-made setting already set with a stone. We were a bit unusual in that we delved into learning about the “4 Cs”, and we purchased a loose stone separately. But we went in person to pick it out from a reputable wholesaler a few cities away from where we lived at the time. And we picked a setting for it from that wholesale jeweler, too.

But, this is basically what I wanted for my engagement ring: A pretty simple heart-shaped stone on a pave band.

My DH did not want to get a heart-shaped stone, because the jeweler we were working with kept telling him the point would break off.  And that it was not a “good value”. (Probably because rounds are generally more expensive due to being a more popular cut.) He also didn’t want to get a pave band because the jeweler said the small stones would fall out. So this is the ring we ended up picking out:

I just realized I don’t have any great pics of the ring as it originally was. It now has blue sapphires in place of the baguette diamonds. I changed that up for our 18th anniversary. But it still has the original stone.

As everyone knows, I have several rings for different anniversaries. But, for our recent (this past October) 22nd, I finally got my heart diamond. (yay!) Instead of the simple pave band I originally wanted, I had it set in a custom setting. And the inspiration for that setting was pictures of roses clustered along fences and walls. Like this:

And the final setting … I also had a roses and vines band made to match it.

Sometimes, I wonder if I would have anniversary rings or have realized how much I love unique settings if we had gotten the ring that was my original dream — ha, ha!

Inspo but I knew I didn’t want a halo.

My set. He went and picked a vintage inspired setting with a lot of engraved details on it, since I told him I didn’t want too many diamonds on the band.
