@Mrs.H2B: Haha that is kind of an awkward thing to say- I’ve never heard that one before. I bet after you walked away she thought, “Cute?! Wtf? Why did I say it that way?” πŸ˜‰

Yea cute is just a weird word to use to describe an e-ring. One of my co-workers said that about mine and I was just like ooookkkkaay, thanks? She’s a weirdo though. πŸ˜‰ I usually go with “pretty” or “gorgeous” or something.

i agree… cute sounds small or “is that it” kind of meaning.  maybe it’s just me.  i hate being 25 and someone says, “that’s cute,” when it’s meant to be sexy or beautiful.  I will be glad to get out of this “cute” stage. especially hair or lingerie…wtf cute, really.

I haven’t gotten a “cute” comment, but I have heard, “It’s so dainty!” quite a number of times. To me dainty = their way of saying small. No biggie, though, ’cause I love it! :]

Hello girls,

This is my first post. I have had the “your ring is cute” comment twice. Once from my best friend, who doesn’t have a particulalrly wide vocabulary (though I love her dearly) and another from a self-obsessed yet well-meaning man, who does not think before he speaks. Therefore, I’ve taken on board the fact that sometimes people aren’t always aware of the language they use, so I’m not offended. I love my engagement ring more every day and he proposed in November 2008. Aside from my house and television (I’m a techno-geek :P) it’s my most prized possession. πŸ™‚

Ha I got the “it’s cute” comment and I hated it!! I agree we use it for other items shoes, purse etc and that is completely fine but not for an engagement or wedding ring!

I had a lot of other not so pleasant comments and then my fiance and I decided to trade it in for a different ring (long back story) but I got a ring that to me really looks like an e-ring and I’m in love with it  I saw the “it’s cute” girl and showed it to her and again I got the same comment.

I left there laughing because she is obviously someone who just uses that and here I took it so personally the first time she said it. Maybe it was because I love my new ring and could care less if there are any questionable comments.

Oops, I called someone’s ring “dainty” once :-S I definitely didn’t mean small, I just meant…delicate.  It was a stunning ring on the prettiest, detailed band I have ever seen. I hope she didn’t take it as an insult!

I think I can pretty safely speak for most guys when I say that if a (straight) guy has ever called your ring “cute”, he almost certainly means it as a compliment. I can understand it now, but before reading this, it never would have occurred to me that someone would be upset about someone else calling their ring “cute”.

Then again, I’m also of the belief that as long as your ring makes you and your fiancé happy, then that’s all that should matter and you shouldn’t really worry about what anyone else thinks.

OMGosh…YES I have gotten that comment EVERY SINGLE TIME I’ve showed my ring to someone except for the amazing girl that is my Maid/Matron of Honor….the one that hurt the most was my Mom the first time she saw it. “Oh, it’s pretty.” She has been so two faced during this whole process…I’m sick of her. Ugh, but anyhow. Yes I know what you mean and I don’t let it bother me now πŸ™‚ lol I love my ring and that is all that matters. HE loves ME and I love HIM and I can’t wait to become his WIFE on June 16, 2012 πŸ™‚

I have gotten cute many times, which I could tell when the comment was made was meant to be spiteful. It did make me feel bad at first, but I have learned to love my e-ring πŸ™‚

Even I’ve gotten “it’s cute” and altho my diamond isn’t huge and blingy, my band is very thick..definitely not a “cute” ring! I’ve gotten a quick glance and “oh that’s nice” too before but altho it’s annoying, i’ve never felt that anyone had any malicious intent behind it. It’s not a word I personally use to describe other ladies’ e-rings tho, because I know how some people can take it.

@Linz1231: No hard feelings. ;]

In all seriousness, though, maybe I misread the ‘dainty’ comment.. after all, my e-ring is delicate (1.5mm band, and whatnot). Sure, the whole thing is .30TCW, too, but maybe they really didn’t mean ‘small’.

I love how delicate and small my ring looks.  Its one of the best features.  I have gotten some to call it cute, one was from my sis who added it after saying it was pretty.  Mostly I get “oh.” =|
