Post a pic of the ring you have now and a pic of your original ring. Please mention what changes were made if you upgraded or why you got a new ring. Thanks π

I still wear both the original and my ‘upgrade’.
the sentimental part of me didn’t want to ‘lose’ my origninal ring, so we just bought a new ring as my ‘upgrade’. so I have both and wear both alternating depending on mood.
This is probably not my last e-ring upgrade either, but I will always hang onto my original e-ring because that is what my hubby proposed to me with.
The first pic is my old ring and the second is my new one. I loved my old ring and when I got it I was told that the center diamond could be upgraded in the future. When I went to do that I was told that the setting couldn’t accommodate a larger diamond. I also realized how color sensitive I was and I felt the first one looked too warm in certain lighting. When I went back to the store I askthe for the same exact ring just a larger stone and higher on the color scale, they didnt have it but they showed me the new setting and I fell in love! This time around I chose from a few loose diamonds and I’m so happy with the result, I get compliments daily!
We actually just exchanged my original engagement ring yesterday because we were having problems with the wedding band rubbing up against the diamonds in the ering and making them loose.
Here is my original:
And here is my new ring that is getting re-sized and will be here soon π
I’ll play! We changed my setting, but kept the original stone…
First Setting: (High, round halo split shank setting)
After: (Lower, cushion halo setting with single band)
original: 1.10 carat ideal cut F color, SI1.
now: 1.35 carat ideal cut, G color, VS1.
Your new ring is also gorgeous!!! I’m sure you’re counting down the days until you receive it!!
@bunnyharriet: This is going to be long and pic heavy..but you asked..lol
My original set was a 1CT equiv. CZ in yellow gold, with a yellow gold band with teeny diamond chips.
Stock pic that looks like my original ering, I don’t have any real pics on my computer.
Wedding band.
I lost my e-ring a few months after I got married, I did not like wearing the wedding band alone, so for my 1st anniversary my DH got me a 3 stone halo ring, I wore it alone on my left ring finger.
I really wanted something that could be worn with a band, I wanted a “set”, so I started asking for a new ring,
For Christmas 2010, he got me a .6 ct colour treated diamond in a simple 14k white gold setting, the diamond was treated to be pink, it was gorgeous, I loved that ring like no body’s business.
This is what it looked like,
Sadly for me, the colour treatment wore off, and I was left with a champagne diamond. I didn’t like the champagne colour, and I was mad as ****, so I sold it as a champagne diamond and started my search once again.
I was hugely obsessed with coloured diamonds, mostly blue and black, the following Christmas, I wanted another new ring, but finances were rather tight, so I got a .5ctw black diamond three stone ring with tiny white diamond accents in 14k white gold, and a cognac diamond white gold eternity band. They were ordered separately, online, and in my mind, they made a great set. When i got them, i hated them together, it looked way too “out there” for me, the eternity band was way too thin (this is coming from someone who currently wears a 1.6mm eternity ring..) and the black diamonds were small, and I wasn’t prepared for the lack of sparkle (I am now deeply in love with black diamonds, and wish i still had that ring).. I sold them both, as I would have been responsible for return shipping for the black diamond, and the cognac band was final sale (the good news is, a sweet older woman bought the cognac band as a wedding band replacement for herself, and a nice young guy proposed to his Girlfriend with the black diamonds)
The black diamond ring looked like this, I have no pics of the band.
After that, I took a bit of a ring break. I bought some sterling CZ rings, but mostly I just wore my three stone diamond ring. Then, in May 2012, for my 5th anniversary I got a princess cut solitaire, the prong broke abut 5 weeks after I got it, things with the jeweler got ugly and i was refunded and started yet again.
Finally, we are at my current set, a white gold and rose gold ring with pink sapphire surprise stones, made my David Klass set with a 7x5mm radiant cut
I have 3 eternity bands and one skinny rose gold stacking ring that I switch around with this ring..I hope this is it..for left hand rings, anyway..
Wow…that was SUPER long…sorry..I guess I got “into it”
awesome! This is the type of response I was hoping to get π I like your current set the most.
old ring was just over half ct … new one is over 1 and 1/2 ct … the new one is my dream ring π
My first ring was a solitaire, which I LOVED. It had a V prong head and one day it just broke off. Thank god I found the diamond, it was still in the prongs too. My husband had me go find a setting that was one solid piece instead of two pieces welded together. So it’s the same princess diamond 1.55c in a different setting. It’s more antique looking now, an unexpected upgrade that I thought would never happen
