My brother got married about 8 years ago.  I wouldn’t say it’s super different from mine… His choice of venue wasn’t my cup of tea but we both went with venues that include everything (food, bar, cake, linens, ceremony.. etc).  He is now planning his second wedding at a very similar venue to his first lol.

My brother’s wedding was outside and in the desert. It was gorgeous, but not my thing at all. I am going roof top in Vegas.

amandajane4949:  I am glad yours was much different! Haha.

My brother married satan, first of all. (that’s a long one we need not get into) and they got married on a ski hill. Literally, ON the ski hill. Said vows at the top, we all skied down and had some beers in the chalet. The bride looked ravishing in her black and yellow ski suit and goggles.

My sister got pregnant at 19 with a guy who was 17 and had a criminal past…fun! She got married in her friend’s ghetto apartment living room at almost 9 months pregnant.

Needless to say both are divorced now. Also needless to say, my parents are super excited about my wedding. lol. Friggin siblings….God love ’em.

  • Wedding: November 2017 - France

My oldest sister got married last year in a hotel conference room, she wore a short blue and white dress and it was immediate family but only ours showed up, the grooms family declined even his children so it was kind of awkward when the priest said that our families were coming together as one. Even more awkward because her husband never came to any of our family gatherings to get to know us.

Eta: I’m getting married here in France and almost all of SOs family wants to come and only a small amount of mine and I have anxiety so I would like to have it be immediate family. I’m hoping to go a little more traditional as well by being given away by my father.

My brother is getting married this summer, and since I’m a bridesmaid for my Future Sister-In-Law, I know a lot about the wedding.

SO DIFFERENT THAN MINE!! I went very elegant at a country club with hardwood floors and chandeliers in the tent, full open bar, raw bar during cocktail hour, formal dresses, etc. It’s what I had always envisioned and always wanted.

My Future Sister-In-Law is way more chill than me. She’s planning a super fun wedding at a ski lodge in New England, way more casual – lots of beer, is going to have games like cornhole etc. set up outside for guests to play, more of a lobster bake, etc. It actually sounds amazing and I am so excited to go!

Mine wasn’t better than hers, I don’t think hers will be better than mine etc., just very different styles! The great thing is since she’s so laid back, being a bridesmaid has been a breeze so far, lol.

My sister got married in June of 2010. We are having our wedding at the same location, which is gorgeous. Our wedding is in the fall so hopefully it will have a different feel. She had and we are having a cocktail reception, but ours is totally differnet food, different caterer, etc. We will (hopefully/weather permitting) having the ceremony at a different location.

jnd224:  My brother had a destination wedding and didn’t invite my parents or myself to the wedding.  Nor did he show for mine, (claimed he was sick)

I don’t have married siblings but Darling Husband has 5. I think they have all been pretty standard, ours was probably the most different. I went to SIL and one BIL’s weddings and both were formal, standard ballroom weddings. My parents went to other BIL’s wedding and it was a lavish (like $100K) wedding at a country club. They said it was incredible. The other two siblings had standard ballroom weddings also. Darling Husband and I got married at the same church as SIL but we were the only ones to have an outdoor tented reception.

I’m hoping my sis has a Destination Wedding on an island. That’d be fun.

My sister and my BIL got married 15 years ago, it was a formal church wedding in Sweden, cocktail hour outside and dinner and dancing. Mine was pretty similar it was formal but we had a non religious ceremony outside, cocktail hour outside and dinner and dancing but it was in Canada and the venues were pretty different.

Very similar feel though. ๐Ÿ™‚

My younger sister got married 5 months ago and our wedding is next month.. her wedding was more rustic than mine and mine is definitely going to be more religious. But we do have some similarities too. Our venues are geographically close to each other, and I’m borrowing some of her vases and lanterns for decor. Also going to be wearing her veil as my “something borrowed”… we had so much fun planning weddings so close together ๐Ÿ™‚
