I do not know anyone with this name, but I would pronounce it “YOU-in” and it makes me think of Ewan McGregor (who I really like as an actor).

My husband and I are thinking of names in that similar vein for when we have kids, so I definitely like!

I thought Eee-wahn at first but now that I see the pp’s pronunciation it’s cute!

@galloway111:  I honestly thought you had a typo while spelling “Evan”. After I noticed you meant Ewan, I pronounced it initially as Ew – Ahhn. I am a serious name nerd and I’ve never heard of this name. Not my taste, sorry.

Another comment for Ewan McGregor and it’s a good name and I know how to say it and spell it if I hear it out loud and I like it.

It makes me think of Ewoks (like from Star Wars).  Sorry.  ๐Ÿ™

Although….when I see it with “MacGreggor” I do hear it as YOU-in.  Otherwise on it’s own, I heard it as “E-won”.

I thought, “Ee-Wahn” too when I saw it. My cousin’s middle name is Euwing, so it took a minute to make that mental leap. But if it’s pronounced “Yoo-wen” I like it.

I would pronounce it EW-IN….it reminds me of an animal…but seriously don’t let other peoples opinions change your mind. I used to tell my whole family the names I liked, and they would all HATE them, and it would make me change my mind about the name. Nobodys tastes are alike. I decided when I finally decide to have kids, no one is going to know the name until my baby pops out except for me and hubby! lol

I think it’s great – it’s unusual but it’s an actual name, and it sounds very distinguished. Go for it!
