I’m not kidding. That was his only requirement. We could not get married during football season. Since we got engaged in December, I didn’t want to wait over a year to get married. So we are getting married in August!
Did sports come first for anyone else’s wedding?

OMG, in this household, there’s football season, basketball season, baseball season… you name it!
Our wedding date is June 5, 2010 and my fiance actually said to me "babe, what if the Lakers are in the Finals again next year? Can we have a tv on at the reception?" I mean, I’m a big Lakers fan too, but that’s too extreme! LOL!!!

I, myself, know that there is no way we’ll schedule a wedding during Football season…at least not on Saturdays (NCAA!). 🙂

We had to make sure we didn’t pick the Georgia-Florida game weekend and surrounding weekends. We’ve been around the weekend before and half the town was too busy with “prep” to bother with tourists – 2 restaurants were even out of food! They were waiting to order food for the game crowd!

We are getting married on a day that Virginia Tech has a home football game…and one of my best friends from college is married to a NFL starter and we missed his bye week by one week!!!

We set our date around Penn State Football – GO STATE! We both really wanted a September wedding, so we picked a crapola game (Akron) and scheduled the ceremony for 5 so after the game is over them men will still have 2 hours to get ready and sober up 🙂

I’m from the south and we take it SERIOUSLY. I know T and I will NOT be marrying during SEC football season!

Yep, we planned around the SEC schedule. Of course, we didn’t take into account the Bowl games since we weren’t initially planning on the Gators going to the BCS bowl. Needless to say, we were on our honeymoon for the championship. Thank God for being on a cruise…they had one of the bars set up just for it and we got to watch the game with both Gator and Sooner fans (and one terribly annoying Bulldog fan).

Not football but my entire family are die hard Cubs fans. Seeing how the Cubs have not won the world series in 101 years and haven’t even made it that far in 60 plus years, we didn’t dare plan an October wedding. It would just figure if we had our wedding in October they would finally make it to the world series….we picked September instead!
But I know a lot of my cousins set their dates around college football games! (they are all Notre Dame fans!)

We scheduled our wedding around the MLB schedule b/c my Brother-In-Law plays for Cincinnati and my sister wanted him to be able to come. So we set our date for October 10th, knowing that the Reds wouldn’t make it to the playoffs. We also wanted to have a small hope of having warm weather here in New Enlgland, so the sooner we could have the wedding, the better.
Then my Brother-In-Law goes and gets injured. He just had Tommy John surgery, and is out for the rest of the year (and probably next year too). So, he’s at home now, going through PT. We could have had our wedding ANYTIME. I wanted a summertime wedding in my parents’ backyard. Oh well. What’s done is done, right? All I can say is, it better be sunny on October 10th!!!!

HAHAHA is that even a question?

Too funny – my FH went to Ohio State, and all teh groomsmen are a mix of OSU football players and Penn sTate football players. I was a cheerleader at my college (big D1 school). All 3 of our teams are playing that day but it was unavoidable – it was the only day in 2009 available there! So we’re having a TV room there…er rather, a projection room, where we’ll be showing the OSU/USC game as the night highlihgt. Im ok with it, we’re huge huge HUGE football people. both families.

I had to plan around fishing and hunting seasons, along with Pac-10 schedules. We didn’t want to take out Cancun honeymoon in the summer (too humid) and the only bye week for the Ducks is in the middle of hurrican season. We are pushing our honeymoon to February.

OMG, I thought we were the only ones who did this!! We are HUGE sports fans (espeically University of Michigan football) and there was no way we would consider getting married during the fall. Also, we got married on campus and it would have been a logistical nightmare to plan during football season.
We chose May for our date because it’s before hockey and basketball playoffs, college basketball and hockey are finished and football isn’t happening. 🙂

I didn’t have to schedule around football but I did have to schedule around hockey. My Fiance is a HUGE San Jose Sharks fan so we are getting married at the end of August before the season starts up again.
