PREACH. Love it.  As far as I can tell, “tacky” is used to mean two things. The first “cheap” or “inelegant,” which is completely in the eye of the beholder and is loaded with all kinds of class bias. The second is “rude,” in which case you can just use the word “rude” and avoid all those class inflections.

@Magdalena: I bet a lot of people don’t even know that “tacky” also means “sticky!”

I got the t word because when parents were asked by their friends what we would like as wedding gifts, they replied cash. its the age old debate. We didn’t advertise it anywhere and we have a registry for people that don’t want to give cash, but still, some people don’t like it.

I’m a new member but have been lurking as a non-member for a bit and have to say that is one of the BEST posts ever, on any of the sites I follow!!!!! Love it…all of it… LOLOL 🙂 …effing AWESOME!!!
