@LucyMegs140: I’ve only seen the dollar dance once and that was last year so it seemed strange to me too.  Totally agree though that it just depends on what you’re used to.

When people make their wedding sound like it’s going to be better than theirs just because they have a bigger budget…newsflash, it’s in the presentation!!!

I dislike the smashing of the cake in the face, I just find it so disrespectful.  Also, whenever there is forced participation in anything.

Having a bazillion speeches and special dances and withholding dinner until they are all completed.

And bad cake!  I don’t care what it looks like, but I spend the whole reception looking forward to the cake and hate when it’s dry and tasteless.

@Evie19: Ditto on the garter-in-the-teeth. I actually just told Fiance yesterday that if he does that he will regret it later!

Also, ditto the PPs on the Dollar Dance. No thank you!

But my biggest pet peeve is either taking too long to get food, or when dinner lasts more than half of the reception time! I just want to dance! I’ve been to weddings where people have been finished for over an hour before they even start a speech! I cannot sit at a table with random people for that long, sorry!

We are guilty of the gap between the ceremony/reception, but we had no choice. The latest time our church will do the ceremony is 2pm, so that’s what we took. I’m not a fan of this at weddings, either, but sometimes it’s not the choice of the bride and groom. I feel bad for doing that to the guests but I cannot make the church change their schedule, and the ceremony is the main part of the wedding day, so we just have to go with it!

I HATE the bouquet toss & the fact that I’ve been pressured to participate in it so many times. It always felt so degrading to me. I usually get ragged on/guilted into joining, purposely stand in the back so I won’t catch it, clap for the ‘lucky lady’ who did (& practically had to wrestle for it), then go back to my seat feeling like a loser… haha, guess I feel pretty strongly about it 😉

The bouquet toss is mine. We’re not doing it, because I hate everything about it. Luckily, my family either agrees with me, or is fine with it.

I hate head tables where the significant others of the wedding party are then stuck sitting alone at random tables.

I also really dislike the Mrs. John Smith thing… but that’s not so much a wedding thing as a thing that annoys me all the time.  (also reminds me that we got our first check addressed to Entangled and Fiance HisLast yesterday which is yay nice but also boo pain in butt because Fiance who hates dealing with money has to go to the bank with me… so I guess checks addressed to the wrong name are also a pet peeve except really I can’t be all that peeved about nice gifts.)

I dislike the head table. We are doing a family sweetheart table with Fiance, me and our two girls.

I never like going to a wedding with someone that is in it and then having to sit a lone.

@MrsNeutrino: Awwww, I TOTALLY understand why it needs to be done. We were fortunately to find a place to have both ceremony and reception.

Just for you I’m changing my answer to the bouquet toss. 😉

I dislike when the speeches are long, clearly un-prepared, and contain bad jokes/comments… I will be delegating speeches to people I think are capable of public speaking.. There is nothing worse then listening to someone constantly saying  uhh… umm… or rambling on incessantly.
