I went with wordpress, it was less than $20 to get a custom URL and the set up was super easy and I was happy with the options for customization.

@Atalanta: This! Fiance wouldn’t have had it any other way!

If it’s possible I would suggest registering your own domain. The premade templates on the free sites are fine but I wasn’t really inspired by any of them. I also didn’t like that most have little to no security and/or were barely customizable. Having your own domain gives you complete control over how your site looks and functions. It also gives you as much or as little protection as you want. For us, it was crucial that our website be username/password protected. A number of the free sites can be found with a simple google search and that’s scary stuff.

“Hey thieves, my entire extended family and I will be away from our homes on this date at this time so no one will be there to disturb you when you break in and clean us out!” – Um, no thank you!

I am using Wedding Window as well and I love it – It gives the most polished and presentable look out of all the websites I was looking at. I love our site and have gotten lots of compliments

I used wedsite.com and have gotten soooo many compliments. It costs $65 for two years but it was totally worth it and easy to use. You can upload as many pics as you want, add music, it has an RSVP feature (I’m not using it though) and lots of other perks. When you wedding is over you can order a CD that captures what it looked like on the last day it was active so you have all of your guestbook entries etc. I love it!

I used Brides.com, but I’m pretty sure only 5 people (if that) actually looked at the website.

My Fiance and I are web developers for a living, so we went all out and made a custom website. 🙂 We’ve gotten SO many compliments on it!
