I know waiting bees hate to hear that phrase… But has anyone ever got it after they’re ALREADY engaged? This weekend we were at FH’s cousin’s wedding shower, and they are getting married in less than a month. Of course all the random relatives I don’t know very well are there, and one comes up to me, and older lady (possibly an aunt) and says the (usually) dreaded “You’re next!” and gives me the little knowing look that accompanies that.
Except…I AM next. Already engaged, and my wedding is in less than 3 months! No one else in their family is getting married between FH’s cousin and us.
I just thought this was pretty funny and ironic and wanted to share with you bees!

I got a few of those comments after a nephews wedding, which was odd to me. Eh, I think people are just trying to say something so they say anything.

I’ve been getting the “you’re next!” from my dad’s side of the family since I was 17. I wasn’t even in a relationship then, let alone ready to get married! But all of my cousins were young moms (under 18, most have three or four before they’re 20) and all of them have ‘attempted’ marriage at least once. My sister and I, I’m 21 and she’s 23, are the only ones who are not married or with kids at our age, and there’s 7 of us girl cousins within a few years!
None of them believed me four years ago when I said I was finishing my degree before getting married, and that I was going to be married before having kids. They all thought I was joking!

From newlyweds my Fiance has recieved the “happy wife happy life” advice, which I think is kinda funny because my Fiance and I have been together for 8 yrs and have lived together for 4. Come on people, you know he doesn’t need this advice,he knows it already hahahahah.

Yeah, we got a lot of that at a recent cousin’s wedding, but I didn’t think it was weird at all, everyone was just excited. Because it’s true, we are next. Heck, my uncle, the father of the bride, asked me at the end of his daughter’s wedding if we were ready for “part 2” in a few months.Maybe it’s just because that side of my family really likes to party 🙂
