my husband and I did a cruise out of Miami a few years ago when we were still dating so we decided to take a few days and make the drive. We stopped in Charleston, SC on the way down and stayed a night, the next day we drove to Jacksonville and stopped to watch the UNC championship game haha then drove down to Daytona to spend the night. The next morning we made the treck to Miami and got on our boat. On the way back we stayed the night in Savannah, GA.

I would love to drive to the Keys!

ETA: if you can get down to the southern states i highly recommend Charleston and Savannah. Both very historic with tons to do and so romantic! plus they arent far from beaches.

I would go back to Boston, or Biddeford, ME for the best italian sandwich of my life if I was staying in New England. I’d also love to go back to New Orleans, but I definitely won’t drive next time, and back to Savannah!

I go to Niagara Falls every chance I get on roadtrips!  It’s an 8 hour drive for me, and one of my most favorite places on the planet!  Plus I have some awesome family there, so it’s always worth the drive.

I’ve been from VT to FL (haha we just did the 14 hr  road trip last weekend from MD to FL) and my favorite place is SC.  It’s mellow, pretty and there are tons to do … or not do if you like that.

I live in CT so, I’ve done lots of road trips. If I was going to do a road trip this very moment I would start in Boston, then NY, Washington D.C., and then Savannah GA

I would totally drive down south and stay at some shore towns or cute B&B’s. I’ve also been up north to upstate NY and Maine and both are lovely!

@misslyn86: We just went on a day trip there so we walked around Quincy Market, and did lots of shopping!  It’s about 2 hour drive for us.

Charleston, SC!  I grew up near there and have always loved it.

Definitely Charleston (make sure you get shrimp and grits while you are there!), Savannah is gorgeous, pop in to Baltimore for some seafood, check out some gorgeous coast line anywhere in Virginia, there are so many choices!

My senior year of high school we did a “history” tour and went from Maryland and DC all the way up to New York and all the places in between. We went Memorial Day weekend of 2001 and I actually got to see the WTC before 9/11. I’d say Boston and Cape Cod were my two favorite destinations.

One place I would like to visit is (I love in VA, btw) would be Maine because it looks so beautiful. I would stay in a small bed & breakfast near the water, check out the light houses, ect. http://www.visitmaine.com/

Tennessee is also very beautiful & my husband & I are going there this summer for a hot air balloon ride over the rolling hills & lakes! GORGEOUS! http://www.tennesseehotairballoonrides.com/

Also Washington D.C would be great! & As a pp mentioned Niagra Falls!
