So, back in March we made a surprise visit to Zales. And by suprise visit I mean I was surprised and he planned on visiting. 🙂 The saleslady we spoke to gave my guy a reminder appointment card for some custom-something-or-another-zales-sponsored-event they were going to host…tomorrow. Also, my guy so happens to have the day off…tomorrow. Also, I happen to get off early from work…tomorrow. And he’s religiously held on to this card ever since.
Trust me. I’m trying to not get my hopes up. Which is one of the reasons I’m posting. I’m hoping saying it out loud (so to speak) will expell some of this extra nervous energy I have. Part of me would be super excited to go look at rings again. Part of me is hoping he remembers he has the card and he wasn’t carrying it because he forgot it was in his jacket pocket. Part of me would be fine if he doesn’t remember and we do absolutely nothing tomorrow. And the biggest part of me wonders if tomorrow will be the day he finally gets a ring. But I’m hopeful and I can’t believe May has snuck up so fast!!!
To ladies who know their guy has a ring hiding or are engaged or married:
How many visits did you guys make before your SO finally bought the ring?

Oooo I’m excited for you 🙂 my bf hasn’t gotten our ring yet (unless he’s leading me on a wild goose chase!) our second visit will be this weekend! I know he’ll be buying the ring after that visit, but without me there.

That’s so exciting! I’m very happy for you, and I don’t blame you for being giddy! I hope it happens for you; if not, you know it’s *that* much closer!
As far as the ring goes, I did not get to help choose the ring. I’m not even sure where he got it from. He has it, and that’s all I know.
But it looks like a lot of us nice ladies have sparklies waiting in our futures! 🙂

We started shopping for rings in March 2009 but didn’t actually make the purchase until May 2010. We went on half a dozen or so shopping trips before we made our decision.

🙂 Keep us updated!! He keeps asking me all about what I want, and I keep telling him we HAVE to pick it out together and I have to try them on first, I would love him to completely surprise me but I’m so particular, I need to see them on my hand first! I know it’s going to be soon because I graduate this week and that’s all he was waiting on!! I hope you get to go play with some bling tomorrow, it’s so much fun!

We went ring shopping about 5-6 times I’d say…Good luck!!!

my SO has been ring shopping at least four times, and has something picked out but hasn’t gotten it yet. Guys can be picky, too!

Mine might be taking me tomorrow night or Saturday for the first time, we’ll see. 🙂

Gahhh I just sent my SO an e-mail with ring preferences and images of styles that I like – he refuses to go ring shopping with me so this is what we have to do! I’ll let you know later how many times he goes shopping before he picks something once I know, haha.

And to top it off-
I just got back from work and he’s not home. I realize that as a full grown adult he may have things like dry cleaning that he needed to take care of. But last night before I went to bed I asked if he needed to pick up his car today (his car was in the shop), he said no, he’s already taken care of it. So, I asked if there was anything he needed to do. Another no. Which, typically, for the last 2 years that we’ve dated means I come home and he’s watching tv and hasn’t moved since he got out of bed. But he’s not here. :)!!!
Seems like everyone is all over the place when it comes to how many trips were made.
@kay01: That’s very exciting. Can’t wait to hear what happens! 🙂

I wouldn’t get too excited yet, my guy had the ring for months before he finally proposed, it was torture! And it might of led to me going through the whole house till I found it, then getting it out to try on when he wasn’t home. lol.

@claireos: I admit, I’m a little skeptical it’ll happen because I’m the planner in the relationship and I’ve told him that it’s up to him to plan this. That said, he was the one to volunteer that he checked and they are open late on Thursday nights or we could go on Saturday.
As a side note, I couldn’t figure out why he kept referring to it as “the ring store” as if there is only one in our large city. Finally found out – apparently a friend (of mine)’s mother caught him alone one time and apparently lectured him heavily on stores to go to, a guy she uses, and quality of rings. I’m a bit in the dark as to the entire conversation because my bf won’t share and my friend only came into the middle of it (she laughed very hard once I mentioned that bf told me abt it but he did not give details – she promised to tell me more only after I got engaged). We’re in our 30s and her mother is classic Jewish mom who wants grandkids very badly so is redued to getting the rest of us married off since her daughter is not moving along.

Well, he did indeed forget that he had the card. We had to go to the mall anyways and happened to walk by the store. They had their signs up and he had a, “Oh, yeah. They’re doing that custom thing today huh?” We stopped by for a moment. And once again, the fact that I know NOTHING about rings and have no idea where exactly my tastes lie was reinforced. Oh well. 🙂 He always seems to know the right questions to ask and he took care of everything. Nothing was purchased. Just looked and left. But it was nice to stop by and I did learn that I prefer a more square stone than round. So, I say, overall, it was a success. 🙂
