Hi all, so my Fiance and I have had some trouble purchasing an engagement ring in my size. We went to Zales to browse and ended up finding one we liked, but it had to be ordered online in a size 5. It came in and we went to look at it, it was still a bit big so they said they’d send it in to be sized down a bit more to a size 4.5. I was wondering how long this would take so I did some Google-ing, and stumbled upon a TON of horror stories and bad reviews about Zales. Some were saying that when they sent their rings in for resizing, the diamonds were tampered with and/or switched out for bad quality/fake ones… is this true?! Then I was reading that you should get your diamond(s) in your ring certified before sending in for resizing – which I don’t think we did. When my ring does come in, should I get it certified through Zales? If I do and there was any diamond switching, would they be able to tell? Ahhhh I have completely made myself paranoid about this and don’t know what I’m supposed to do. I know nothing about jewelry/diamonds, so anyone who does, please please please give me some advice?? I don’t want to be walking around with a bad/fake diamond engagement ring!
