I was wondering if anyone has ever been to a pre-owned jewelry event at Zales? My e-ring is a family heirloom and we are having the diamond reset. While shopping around the lady at Zales told me this event was coming up and the jewelry is all 50% off. That seems like an amazing deal! I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what kind of selection and quality I might find at the event. Has only purchased a ring or setting this way?

I did it the opposite way. I had a setting but not a diamond. I’m not sure of the quality of Zales stuff only mostly heard about the diamonds. I haven’t heard such great things.
However you can get good deals on semi mounts in a lot of places. I’ve even seen really great quality ones on ebay for less than $1000. Are you looking for something with sidestones, a certain metal? What stone shape and carat weight is it? Have you looked at Zales online collection?

I haven’t, but it wouldn’t hurt anything to look.

My diamond is a little over .5 round. It is a really nice diamond. I am looking for white gold with side diamonds. I really have a pretty open mind about the setting. I feel like I’ll know when I see it. I have looked at many semi-mounts and found a few that I like. Jb Robinson is also having an event where they bring in a ton of settings and will set your diamond for free if you purchase a setting. We will probably check that out too.
I was intriqued by the pre owned event because she said everything is 50% off the retail price. That sounds like we could get a great ring for a great price! The pre-owned jewelry must be purchased with the center stone, so that is a downside. However, we figured we could sell or trade the new diamond to help pay for the wedding bands.

@karmills84: Sounds like a plan. If its with the diamond that does kinda stink, but if it does turn out to be cheap that’d be awesome. You could always drop the other diamond in a pendant too!! Since the value of a resell diamond isn’t that much I’m not sure it would fetch you enough to get you both wedding bands. Even plain wedding bands are pretty pricy now a days. Best of luck to you let us know how it all worked out!!
