- Wedding: December 2013
Hi, I recently purchased a Vintage dress online. Its not ancient, just from the 90s. I am absolutely in love with this dress it’s like a Cinderella princess gown.
However, it doesn’t zip up but about half way. I know the arms need to be taken out about an inch, and when that’s fixed it will lay right and I’ll be able to zip it up more but I was wondering if I would be able to replace the zipper, which looks a little dated anyway, with a lace-up corset? It zips up about half way. I’m really bummed out about this because I adore this dress!!
So, is it possible to fix the arms, replace the zipper with a corset, and adjust the length? (I’m roughly the height of a smurf)…oh and of course I’m going to bustle it too.
Is all of that not only possible, is it going to force us to post-pone the wedding due to extravagant alteration costs? This dress only cost me $100 but we’re on a TIGHT budget!
Lastly, if anyone knows of a good inexpensive seamstress in the Northern New Jersey area PLEASE let me know!
