    Best of both worlds. Yoga will streach you out and Zumba will sweat you up. You will see results in no time if you stick to it

    The best & fastest results I’ve ever personally gotten was when I cleaned up my diet (no processed foods, no sugary drinks, lean proteins, whole grains, fresh fruits & veggies, healthy fats from nuts, hummus, and cheese- I could never give up cheese!) and weight lifting.  I don’t mean 5 pound dumbells either, I mean decent heavy weights… not body builder heavy, but definitely enough to feel a burn.  Lifting weights builds lean mass, and lean mass burns more at rest than fat mass does.

    Also, maybe try MyFitnessPal.  Best way to get sustainable, healthy results is to tackle the issue from both sides- diet AND exercise.

    Good luck on your journey!  Take photos & measurements as they are a more accurate and reliable indication of progress than an arbitrary number on a scale 🙂

    Zumba is a lot of fun but on its own, I don’t think it will be effective for weight loss. i agree with the pp that most of weight loss is related to diet, not exercise. I lost 30 lbs without stepping foot in a gym. To get those effects with Zumba, you would have to be doing it for several hours a day I think. I’d focus on diet and do Zumba because its fun and great exercise, just don’t expect crazy weight loss results with it! Once you lose weight it should help you tone.

    I love Zumba. I wear my heart rone monitor and in one hour I burn over 600 calories. I suck at it, but it is SO much fun. Also, nobody else is good either so nobody even notices if you suck. I also despise excerising and I really enjoy zumba. With Zumba and dieting I lost five lbs in two weeks.

    Any activity would be helpful.  Just also be sure to change the way you eat.  I think you have to do BOTH to have a long term success!

     

    I started Zumba in Feb. and I lost 15 pounds just doing that and eating better.  I started adding in weight work cause I flatlined.

    Yoga will help you stretch & relax.  I don’t think Yoga is a bad addition for anybody, really.  I’ve been nagging my SO to do Yoga once a week with me to stetch out our running aches, but that hasn’t been too successful yet.

    I agree, diet is first and foremost. Diet is where you actually lose weight, exercise helps keep off what you lost. Exercise alone won’t rid you of much weight, it’s the combination of the two that does it.

    I would add lifting weights to your exercise plan. Hard cardio (I know Zumba has a huge range of cardio-levels and difficulty of workout, not sure where your workout falls on the range) should really only be a once a week thing, the majority of your exercise plan should be moving frequently at a steady pace (i.e. walking/hiking) and lifting weights.

    Jillian Michaels workout dvds are amazing. i lost over 30kgs doing this and working myself up to running. ive heard of a running program like couch to 5km.

    I love zumba! I go at least 4 times a week. Trying to up it to 5-6 and see what happens.

    I’ve been doing zumba for almost 2 years and the change in my body is amazing.
