No you do not have to hold weights. Zumba is a latin dance class. yes you move your body including your hands but you dont have to move the arm that is hurt. I have 2 herniated disks in my back. I take pilates classes but don’t ever do any moves that cause pain. If they do moves you don’t feel comfortable with modify it for you.

@futuremrste:  Hey date twin and fellow Canadian!

I am a Zumba instructor, and the great thing about it, is you can do as much or as little movement as you want. I always show low and high impact options in my class.

To answer your question, I have a friend who is also a Zumba instructor, who actually attended classes with a cast on for her broken wrist! She was fine – she just limited her arm movements and focused on her legs.

Get to a Zumba class girl! You won’t regret it!

@futuremrste:  I did it 2.5 months after a broken rib!  I couldn’t lift my arms up that high, so I just kept my arms lower or didn’t move my one arm.

If I started to breath too heavily (deep breaths hurt ribs!), I’d just do my feet and no arms at all.

I’d say you’d can do it with a healing wrist!
